HORSE PROJECT ID SHEETS NEW 2019
HORSE PROJECT ID SHEETS – All enrolled 4-H members MUST ID their horses prior to registering for District or State Horse show OR no later than June 1st. New this year each horse MUST have a “body conditioning” score on their affidavit.
Body condition scoring (BCS) is an important skill for horse owners to learn. Estimating body condition, or how much fat the horse has on it's body, is very important to help maintain the horse at a healthy weight, and as a important piece of information to determine overall horse well being.
Several resources are available to hep you learn how to condition score your horse, how to accurately estimate your horses weight, and give you a tool to help you track/record condition score of your horse.
Resource - Horse Quest Learning Lesson https://articles.extension.org/pages/9446/horses-learning-lessons
Resource - Horse Conditioning App is available - This app is available for iOS and Android devices. You can use this app to calculate the body condition of your horses, take a picture of them, and record it with the date. This app is very useful for helping you track the body condition of your horses over time.
Resource - Basics of Feeding Horses: Feeding Management - A printed NebGuide is available to download from www.extension.unl.edu/publicationsCAMPING SPOTS DURING FAIR

SPIN CLUBS
4-H Special Interest clubs are a fun way to:
¨Learn about a single topic during focused meetings. Activities may build upon skills previously learned or may be a one-time opportunity.
¨ Members are eligible to join other 4-H clubs and participate in 4-H opportunities throughout the year.
¨ All SPIN Club members/families will receive a monthly electronic newsletter after enrolling.
¨ Stay in touch with 4-H events/activities by connecting through social media!
¨ The 4-H program is so large and opportunities SO vast that it can sometimes seem a little overwhelming when you are new. The 4-H experience can be tailored to fit your goals, schedule, and interests. That is one reason 4-H is such a great program for Nebraska families
