Plano ISD - Parental Engagement Survey
There are many ways in which parents may be involved in the education of their child. Extensive research has shown that activities such as reading, communicating with the child, and setting expectations have the largest effect on student achievement. Other forms of parental involvement, such as attendance and participation in school functions, also contribute positively to achievement in school.
This Parental Engagement Survey will help us understand some of the ways in which parents are engaged in the education of their child. This information will also guide us in providing support to the parents in our community.
With the 2015-2016 school year in mind, please take a moment to answer this brief survey.

Morning Carpool Reminders
- Please pull through the school driveway if you are dropping off students in the front of the school in the mornings. When parents stop on the street corners to let students out of the vehicle (instead of pulling into the school driveway), it causes significant traffic challenges and creates safety issues. Thank you for your help with this request!
- Please allow extra time for traffic when bringing students to school each morning. We recommend for parents to arrive prior to 7:30 if they desire to avoid much of the congestion.
- Gym doors open at 7:00 for children to be dropped off and wait safely in the gym until dismissed for class.
- Front doors open at 7:20 for students to be dropped off. Students will be allowed to go to the gym and wait until 7:30 before heading to class.
- Students entering the building after 7:45 will receive a late slip and be marked tardy. An accumulation of tardies/unexcused absences can result in truancy concerns.

Makerspace Donations Still Being Accepted
The PTA is getting closer to its financial goal for the Andrews Makerspace project, which has reached $3,500 of the total $5,000.
Makerspace is a DIY space in the library, where students can gather to create, invent and learn. The Makerspace wish list contains $5,000 worth of items such as solar car kits, robots, Lego education products (STEM) such as the Lego WeDo Construction set, Lego Mindstorm coding sets, a 3-D printer and related technology, and more. To learn more about Makerspace for Andrews, visit http://tinyurl.com/orxqzf3.
