Crazy Doc's rant and raves...
Thank you for your input into the team meetings yesterday and I look forward to what each grade level comes up with for their ways to support the students.
For consious discpline I plan on starting to share the podcasts created by the company. They are each about 30 minutes in length and could play in the background while working on something else.
Also, Gerry is back with a new video. This is not as funny as it is one of his "protest" videos to state testing, but still has some relatable moments.
Thank you for traveling with me on this mindful and trauma sensitive journey. It is not an easy path to travel, but hopefully the speed bumps lead to beautiful vistas along the way!
Teacher Spotlight
"I would like to nominate Mrs. Kroenke for spotlight.
I always find her wondering in to the lunch room to find a few students that struggle with behaviors at school and invite them back to her room to eat lunch with her. Her goal is to get to know them and build a relationship with them. She has also worked with tough students to be flexible with her lesson plans and activities to incorporate their interest and suggestions in order to bond with them and keep them inside her classroom. I love her how she starts her class with breathing/calming exercises. I also love her willingness and flexibility to bend her Art class around the needs of our struggling friends. Two big thumbs up!!!"
Do you have a idea for a person in the spotlight? Please let me know.
From Misty
Happy Friday and Happy end to September!
Thank you Jill & Creasa for driving the data dive yesterday! We appreciate your continued work and support in our classrooms. Please reach out to them if you are looking for new ideas, need support, or if you have questions.
Mindfulness: Check out these apps Headspace: Mindfulness, Mindfulness for Children, & Mindful Powers
Check out this short video on “Just Breathe” – How Can Children Process Difficult Emotions? By Mindful Schools.
In this powerful short film, watch and hear from elementary school students learning to use mindfulness to navigate complex feelings.
Here’s the electronic copy of the October Bingham Blue Jay newsletter.
