Student Materials Pick Up
Parents,
Over the next week, the teachers and staff will be working at Big Creek to prepare your child/ren’s belongings for pickup. While you will see cars in the parking lot, please know that we are following district social distancing guidelines provided to us. As much as we would love to say hello, we are unable to accept any visitors who are non-district employees.
To close out the 2019-2020 school year, we have developed a plan for parents to pick up items students left at school -- as well as yearbooks, refunds for field trips, and other items from teachers. In addition, we also ask that you return any library books/ ARC books as well as Chromebooks borrowed for online learning.
You should have received detailed instructions via Messenger email and from your child's teacher. All exchanges will happen in a drive through format on May 26-27. We know our Wildcats and teachers are eager to see each other and wave goodbye, but please do not exit your vehicle. Please follow the plan to help us keep this process safe for your family as well as for our teachers and staff members. Please remain patient throughout this process and we will do our best to keep the car line moving smoothly.
Please take note of your child's designated pick up date and time as we have many different windows scheduled over two days to help maximize safety. If you are unable to pick up your child/ren’s belongings at your assigned time, we will save them in the bag/s at Big Creek until the district has approved all schools to reopen and operate with regular hours.
See you soon Wildcats!

Leadership Changes
It is with mixed emotions that we share with our Wildcat families that Assistant Principal Kelly Fuchs will be leaving Big Creek to become an Assistant Principal at Silver City Elementary School for the 2020-2021 school year. Being selected for this role is a well-deserved recognition of Mrs. Fuchs's incredible talents and abilities. Her contributions over the past five years at Big Creek are tremendous! Her positive influence and meaningful impact have made a quality difference for students, staff and families alike. Thank you, Mrs. Fuchs, and best of luck to you in your new role. We will miss you!
For the 2020-21 school year, Big Creek will welcome Mrs. Katie Turner as our new Assistant Principal. Mrs. Turner comes to us with us a tremendous amount of experience that includes teaching both special education and general education in both primary and intermediate grades. She has many different leadership experiences including being an Instructional Coach, Quality Work Facilitator, and most recently an Administrative Assistant as well as serving on the Forsyth County Literacy Task Force. Mrs. Turner is excited about building new relationships with all our wonderful students and Wildcat families! Please join us in giving a warm Wildcat welcome to Mrs. Turner!
Best Wishes to Our Retirees!

New Local School Council Members
Thank you to parents Major Aaron Anderson, Athena Donkar and Kelly Johnson for volunteering to serve on our Local School Council for 2020-21. As there were only 3 volunteers for the 3 openings, there was no need to hold a vote. Additionally, we welcome Stephanie Mathis with Mathis Grading as our new Business Partner representative on the LSC. We look forward to wonderful input from our council in the new school year!
Do You Need a Yearbook?
Yearbooks are $45 and any extras we receive will be sold on a first come first serve basis; payment options include Jostens’ Venmo and Cash App only. The deadline to add your name to the waitlist is May 21st so the additional books can be sorted and distributed with all other student belongings the following week.
Contact yearbook@bigcreekespto.com with any questions.
Are You Moving Over the Summer??
Additionally, If your student will not be enrolled in Forsyth County Schools for 2020-21, you may complete a refund form for any remaining cafeteria balances. The form must be completed and sent in to the county office for a refund. Access the form here.
For returning students, balances will roll over to next year and follow your student throughout the Forsyth County school system.
Info on 2020-21 Health Conditions and Forms
If your child has a medical condition (i.e. Food/Insect Allergies, Asthma, Seizures, etc.) that may require support while at BCE for the 20-21 school year, it is county policy that new medical forms be completed each school year by your child's physician. All forms should be dated after Memorial Day (5/25/20). These forms are available on the Big Creek Elementary web page, under the Support Services tab, click on School Nurse, and then click on Health Forms, which is on the left hand side of my page. These forms are available on the Forsyth County Schools website as well.
If your student may require medications to be kept at school, a Request for Administration of Medication form (1 for each medication) must also be completed. If your child has a condition that does not fall into a specific form please use the Individual Health Care Plan.
You may drop off medications and forms for the 20-21 school year anytime during Open House or from 7:15-8:15 am once school begins. Medications and forms will be accepted anytime during the school day, but please understand that if there are students in the clinic they are the priority and I may not be able to get to you in a timely manner.
As a reminder, medications will need to be brought in by the parent/guardian, along with completed forms, students may not transport/carry medication. If your student does not require medications at school, you may send completed forms in an envelope labeled "Attention School Nurse" and send to the school with your child. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at gsampson@forsyth.k12.ga.us.
I cannot believe this year is almost complete, time sure does fly! I sincerely hope everyone has a healthy and safe summer!
Warmest Regards,
Nurse G
