2023 Town and Country Sports Camp- Winter Olympics Success!
During Week 6, 37 Year 7-8 students attended the 2023 Town and Country Sports Camp. The Town and Country Sports Camp this year attracted schools from across the Waikato, King Country and Thames Valley. The team had an outstanding week and were fortunate enough to be crowned 2023 Overall Champions! This was the first time in 10 years that we have achieved this result. Our last win was back in 2013 when it was an eight team competition. Stanley Avenue School were overall winners in Boys Basketball, Netball, Girls Ultimate Frisbee, Bowls, Croquet, Athletics, Swimming and Triathlon. Additionally, we were runners up in Mixed Hockey, Soccer, Boys Volleyball, Girls Table Tennis, Boys Table Tennis, Wall Ball and Cross Country. A standout performance was in the Girls Netball final where we won a thrilling final over strong rivals Te Aroha Primary. Kudos must be given to Mrs Meyler and Mrs Valencia for their organisational and logistical input as well as Ally Van Kuijk and Kane Holder for their roles as Camp Mum and Dad, and Jeremy Gamble as Camp Helper. Dave Wood, Kristina Watts and Al Meyler, selflessly assisted a number of teams across the week. We were ever grateful for the parent support, and transport assistance throughout the week.
We look forward to this year's Year 6 and 7 students taking this success into the 2024 Town and Country Sports Camp.
To the entire team, I am incredibly proud of what you have achieved. Your were absolute champions on and off the field!
An incredibly proud Principal

Rec Centre update
I am excited to inform you that Adept Interiors Limited started the removal of the internal ceiling during Week 5. At the time of writing the existing internal ceiling had been removed and the metal bracing for the new ceiling has been installed.
We now await the installation of the new seismic ceiling tiles that will also provide effective acoustics and additionally will be lighter in colour, making the Rec Centre seem brighter. We anticipate this project to be completed by the middle of Week 10, ready for the start of Term 4.

Calendar art has been sent home today! Your child has worked hard in class to produce an awesome piece of artwork. This can be made into a calendar, greeting cards and a diary. Please fill out the order form neatly and return both the artwork and form by Friday 15th September. Payment can be made online or at the school office. They will be ready later in Term 4.
Please note: Due to rising costs, prices have increased by approximately 3.5%. This has mainly come through paper costs, couriers, insurance, rent and raw materials. We understand the financial frustration, however Kids Artworks have tried to make products affordable and ensure that Calendar Art is still a profitable fundraiser for our school.
