What Are We Learning This Week?

This week we will continue and get more into our study on buildings. We will talk more about buildings in our community (watch for our city-scape in the hallway). We also will dive into the classic story of the 3 Little Pigs. We will read a few versions of this classic (comparing and contrasting), act it out and discuss the characters & beginning/middle/end of the book. By now we have talked about more than half of the letters of the alphabet. We will continue to practice writing them and learning the rest. We also are focusing on the sounds letters make. Ask you child about letter names and sounds when you are out and about! This week's number is 16. I plan on going up to 20 and then back down to 0. Many of the children are able to match the numbers with their quantities - we will continue to work on that and writing the numbers. This Friday is our 100th Day Celebration. We will build structures out of 100 cups and make necklaces with 100 Fruitloops on them!

Speech-Language Group- Jan 19-23, 2015

This week, we will continue to follow directions identifying the numerals 1-6. We will follow directions placing the named farm animal in the named location (in, on, next to/beside) and tell where the animal is located. We will continue practicing the nursery rhyme "Hickory, Dickory, Dock".

Other Information.....

We have had lots of sickness going around the community. We ask you to please follow the Papillion-La Vista School Handbook concerning illness. The handbook states, “Students who have been ill with vomiting, diarrhea, severe headaches, excessive coughing and excessive nasal drainage should not return to school until symptoms subside and their temperature is below 100 degrees for 24 hours without medication.” We want to keep our staff and children healthy! Please call the school to let us know when your child will be absent. If your child becomes ill at school, you will be called and expected to come for him/her as soon as possible. If you cannot be reached, the person(s) indicated on the emergency card will be notified.

We would like to welcome Jimmy to our afternoon class!
