School District 622
Back to school: 2021-2022
Dear 622 Families,
We are excited to welcome back 622 students to school in just a few short weeks. As a reminder, the first day of school for students in 622 is as follows:
Monday, August 30: Grades 1-12
Tuesday, August 31: Kindergarten
Tuesday, September 7: Preschool
Please visit this link for the full District 622 calendar.
Learning Model:
We will be welcoming back students to school in-person five days a week. If your student would prefer to be full-time in an online setting, District 622 is an approved online learning provider in Minnesota. Please visit this link to learn more about 622 Online.
School start/end times:
As communicated in June, school start/end times are adjusted for this next school year. Please visit this link to view the school start/end times.
Face Coverings:
During our summer programming, masks were optional for students and staff, except on transportation which is a federal requirement. We are currently reviewing the latest guidance from the Minnesota Departments of Education and Health on plans for this upcoming school year. We will communicate our plans for this school year by Friday, August 13, 2021.
Meals:
We are asking all 622 families to complete the Application for Educational Benefits for this upcoming school year. While school meals will continue to be free this year, completing this application also provides additional funding to our schools in various ways. It also can qualify your student for reduced district athletics and activities fees, and testing fees, among others.
COVID Vaccination:
The COVID vaccination is not required for students or staff to return to school, however, it is highly recommended. There are still many vaccination events taking place around our community. District 622, in partnership with Washington County, will host a COVID vaccine clinic on Wednesday, August 18. Click this link to learn more.
Other logistics:
We will continue to run the medical-grade air purifiers in all classroom locations this year.
Custodial staff will continue sanitizing schools each day.
Buses will be sanitized between each route.
Bus route postcards will be sent home to families the week of August 16. Watch your mailbox for the yellow postcard with your child's school bus route information.
I will continue to update you as we get closer to the start of school. I hope you all have the chance to enjoy these last several weeks of summer.
Warm Regards,
Christine Tucci Osorio
