Annual Holiday Project School 17 Beginning soon!
Next week, we will be kicking off our annual School 17 Gift Collection Project. Starting Thursday, November 8th until Friday, December 7th, we will be collecting gifts for School 17. School 17 is Webster’s sister school in the city of Rochester. For most of these children, the holiday gift that they receive from us is the only gift they get.
School 17 students created a “wish list” for us, that lists the gifts they would like. During lunches on Monday and Tuesday, students can pick up a gift slip for a present they wish to buy. Spry students can view the list of needed gifts in their homerooms. We are asking that the gifts are returned to school unwrapped within one week’s time and are worth between $15-$20. This price limit ensures that all students receive gifts of approximately the same value. Please only buy gifts that are on the list, as the children in School 17 are expecting to receive the gift they asked for. Upon the return of the gift, students should also tape the half-sheet of paper to the gift.
Gifts will be collected daily and can be deposited into the large gift collection box in the main foyer of the school (outside of the library). Spry’s goal number of gifts is 155, in addition to approximately 20 “extra” gifts that we collect just in case they are needed. Student volunteers for this project will keep a tally of the number of gifts collected and will help to keep the student body informed of how close we are to our goal. Several Spry student council members will participate in the delivery of gifts to School 17 in mid-December.
Thank you in advance for all of your help and support. Without you, this would not be possible! If you have any questions regarding this project, please feel free to contact Terri Rogers.

PTSA Lunch Break Volunteers Needed
Lunch Break is here at Spry this Fall, and parent volunteers are always needed.
There are two ways to volunteer during any of the program's three remaining Tuesday dates. You can come to school and volunteer your time, or send in a homemade baked good. Your job as a parent volunteer at Spry during Lunch Break would simply be to help with set up (or clean up), hand out crafts and guide students to available seats at craft tables, and to help the senior citizens if they need any replacement supplies, etc. To send in a homemade baked good you can sign up and then send it in with your child to be dropped off in the main office at the beginning of the school day.
Below our names is a link to a Google Doc. Click on the link to see the dates and times, and to sign up. The information you type in will be saved automatically. Or simply send us an email with the date you want.
Please contact one of the Listening Post co-chairs with any questions. Thank you!
