Ohlone Family Connection
April 29, 2022
Staff Appreciation Week
We love our students and families!
Thank you, Families!
Tomorrow is our highly anticipated Spring Fling and Festival! This is a reimagined Harvest Festival along with our student talent show. If you have never attended in the past, this is a must-do! There will be games, booths, food, and most importantly, community. This is our time to reconnect :). I hope to see you and your children there. I will try to drag my big 15-year-old child with me. See you then!

This Saturday, April 30 Spring Fling & Festival!
This will be a special time for our community to finally reconnect. You don't want to miss this. I am looking forward to seeing students and families for this much anticipated event!
What is Spring Fling and Festival?
Once upon a time in (2019) Ohlone hosted two events, a Fall Harvest Festival to benefit the Farm and a Spring Fling to promote student talent and celebrate our community. This Spring we have combined the two events in hopes of building our Ohlone community, highlighting the farm, showcasing student talent and enjoying a day together in the sun.
Please, if you have kids that remember Harvest Festival tell them it is the same idea...just in the Spring. If this will be your first Spring Fling and Festival you are in for a treat! Live music, yummy baked treats, tasty food, handmade crafts, farm products, t-shirts and totes, beloved booths like wooden sign painting, caramel apples, popcorn hands, soap felting, butter making, and much more await you.
Let's celebrate together! Come for the entire afternoon or whatever time you can spare. Bring a blanket to enjoy the student performances and be ready with your ticket bracelet to enjoy over 18 booths, three naturalist tables, a plant sale, and lots of treasures from the market. Each of us has a role to play so sign up for your booth, lend an extra hand with set up or clean up and support the farm. Go Ohlone spirit!
Paly Robotics Today!
At lunch today, Paly Robotics hosted an interactive demonstration for Ohlone students. There were ball throwing robots and mechanical fun all around. So fun! Plus, it is always fun to see the bigs teach the littles :). I love high schoolers! Thank you for spreading the STEM, Paly!

PTA President, Where Art Thou?
We know you are out there :). Please reach out to me if you are interested. This is an amazing opportunity to support your school community. We cannot have a school PTA without a president. Please consider and email me today! There is a free t-shirt and a jar of honey in your future.
School Mascot?
Student Council has been discussing the need/desire for an official school mascot. Some of the kids believe our mascot is the apple with the worm. Others do not think we have a mascot. Some do not know either way!
Students talked about finding out what students, staff, and families want first. They thought about breathing new life into an existing image or coming up with something new. Students are learning about this process that involves many stakeholders and takes time. They are gathering input from students first. Next, they will reach out to staff and then families. I have done this once before. This process does take time and may spill into next year. I'm looking forward to seeing what the Ohlone community comes up with!
