Each year all public schools in the state give an assessment called the MCA (Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment) that measures student knowledge of the state standards. This is administered to students in grades 3-8, 10, and 11.
Two years ago, the state of Minnesota waived the state testing but last year testing was resumed. The information gathered from this test will allow school districts, the state education department, and the federal education department to understand the impacts the pandemic has had on students and schools in regards to learning. As the guardian of the student, it is your choice as to whether or not your student takes the test.
We are asking that all guardians complete the survey (one form entry per student) to indicate if your student will be taking the MCA.The link to the survey is below.
For families who choose to have your student(s) take the state assessment:
Dates: Students in grades 3-8 as well as 10 and 11 will be scheduled to test at one of our school buildings sometime between March 28 - May 7. You will be asked to bring your student to the testing site a minimum of two or three times on separate days. If transportation is a barrier to testing, please reach out to the Moorhead Online Academy office.
Results: Results of the assessments are set to be released to the school and then to guardians over the summer.
For families who choose to opt out having your student(s) take the students assessment: If you prefer that your student doesn’t take the test, we do need to know your decision for reporting and planning purposes. Please fill out the MDE Opt Out Form (Link is below) and email it to mhdonlineacademy@moorheadschools.org or mail it to Moorhead Online Academy, 2410 14th St South, Moorhead, MN 56560.
