Updates from the Midland school community

Updates from Mrs. Breeding

Second Quarter is well underway and we are all working hard on our goals as a school. Our three school improvement goals are focused on improving math instruction, social and emotional wellness for our students and families, and reading instruction and interventions for all students. If you have questions about these goals, please come see me!

Second Cup is a great way to get involved at Midland. Once a month, I host a coffee in the morning to talk about some of the work we are involved in at the school. Anyone is welcome. Our topics change from month to month and we are always open to suggestions for topics!

If you haven't already, please 'like' us on Facebook (Midland International Elementary) and follow us on Twitter (@midlimustangs).

International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program

Student agency is a new focus for the IB program. What does AGENCY mean? Simply speaking, giving students voice, choice and ownership supports agency. Students take ownership in their own learning and use this power to take ACTION! We will continue to talk about this with our greater community and highlight examples of student agency in our school.

Attendance Matters!

Good attendance contributes to students doing well in school and eventually in the workplace. The early school years are essential for laying a foundation for strong attendance and academic success in future years. By middle and high school, poor attendance is even more predictive of dropout. Each absence represents a preventable lost opportunity to learn in the classroom. We can’t afford to think of absenteeism as merely a lack of compliance with school rules.

Please remember to have your child to school no later than 7:55 each day! Please attempt to schedule appointments outside of school hours. Thank you for your help!
