3rd Grade Math
We have previewed place value through the ten thousands place for 4th grade math this week. During the summer, please practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division so that students can keep their skills fluent. I gave the 3rd graders a math packet called Math Riddles to work on during the summer. There are a couple of pages with multiplication of 3-digit numbers times 2-digit numbers and division with 3 digit dividend divided by a 1 digit divisor. 3rd graders haven't been taught the algorithm for those yet, but if you want to try it out, you can, or you can just skip those pages. 4th graders will learn the area model and the algorithm for multiplication during the next school year. Math Riddles isn't a requirement for the summer.
I have enjoyed working with each and everyone of your children! They are delightful, intelligent, and hard working. Thank you for all of your support this year! Have a safe, fun summer! See you in August!

4th/5th Grade Math
We have reviewed fractions with each operation this week and previewed percentages for 6th grade math. During the summer, please practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of fractions with unit fraction divided by whole number and a whole number divided by a unit fraction. Also work on the division algorithm with whole numbers and decimals. If students practice these concepts, it will help make the transition into 6th grade math smoother.
