Congratulations to IPS Center for Inquiry School 84
IPS Center for Inquiry School 84 held their Schools to Watch celebration on September 7. You can read more about it and see the story that aired on Channel 13 here. They actually had three different TV cameras there. "The number one thing that makes our school special and the word I always think of when I think of CFI is "community", said CFI 84 Principal Kathleen Miller. "Our school is absolutely a community of students, staff and parents and they're all working together toward one mission and that's to provide our kids with the best education possible." After wonderful performances by the orchestra and choir, short speeches and the presentations, the loudest cheer was after Miller announced, "Sometime today, there will be cake!" Got to love middle school students!
REGISTRATION STILL OPEN
Conference information is on our special site & linked on the IMLEA website. You may register at the discounted rate through September 15; after that you can still register, but will pay a higher rate. The special hotel rate was guaranteed only through September 10, but rooms are still available at a higher rate. Attendees may be registered by purchase order, credit card, check, or PayPal. You may join IMLEA at the same time to take advantage of the member discount. While many schools use Title II funds for this, you may also use Title IV.

The Latest from Alfie Kohn
His most recent, provocative blog post for Education Week, "It's not about Behavior" pulls together many educational hot topics: behaviorism, PBIS, grit, testing, overscheduled students, and more. This could be used for some great faculty or small group discussions.
This Week's genOn IN Update
This update includes suggested activities for many of the special events this month, including 9/11 and Constitution Day. It also features service projects from the Garrett-Keyser-Butler, Mt.
