Creating a QR Code for Videos

and Google Documents

Using a QR Code is a great way to share information with your students' parents. Making a QR Code is quick and easy. This Smore will walk you through the entire process of creating a short video, saving it to Youtube, and creating a QR Code to share the video.

The apps we are going to use have been pulled down to the "task bar". We will be using Photos, Camera, QR Reader and YouTube. We're going to start with the Camera app.

Switch from photo mode to video mode by touching the word "VIDEO". Press the red button to begin recording, and then press it again to stop recording.
Now we are going to open the PHOTO app. After opening it, find your video and touch it to select.

Touch the video you want to share, then choose the YouTube icon.

Give your video a title and then touch the word "Publish". It will take several minutes to be published. You can exit out of these apps and go to the YouTube app now. You will be asked to log into your google account...use your regular email login and password.

When you log in, you will be on your YouTube home page. Touch the person icon to go to your video uploads. Next, touch "My videos.

Touch the video you are going to use for your QR Code.

Look for the curved arrow near the top right side of the video.

Now you can exit this app and go to the QR Code app.

When you open the QR Reader app, the screen will look like the one above. We are going to choose the "Create" icon.

Click on the + sign in the upper lefthand corner of the screen to make a QR Code.

One of the last things you did in YouTube was to copy the video link. It's still floating around in memory. All you have to do is press your finger near the blinking cursor and hold it down until the word "paste" pops up. Touch the word paste and the link will appear.
Here is the link for the video I made. Now click on the word "Create" to make the QR Code.

When you click create, your QR Code is made.

Now we need to share the QR Code to use it. Click the "share" icon and tell it to save to the camera roll. You can exit out of the QR Code app and open the Photos app.

Open the Photo app, find your QR Code image and touch it to save. Pick the Google Drive icon to save it to your drive.

Once the QR Code is in your drive, you can print it out to use.
