Screening for Scoliosis
Dear Parent/Guardian:
School law requires that a screening for scoliosis be performed on all children in grades 5th and 6th. The purpose of the screening program is to detect possible curvature of the spine in children. If the condition is detected early and appropriately treated, progressive spinal deformity may be prevented. The school nurse and another staff member will check your child's back by observing it while your child is standing and bending forward. To assure a view of the spine, we will request that students expose their backs during screening. It is recommended that boys wear a shirt that can be easily removed. Girls should wear a bathing suit top or halter under a blouse or sweater.
You will be contacted if there is any reason to have your child examined by your healthcare provider. If your child is currently under active treatment for a spinal problem, or if you have any objection to having your child participate in the screening program, please inform the school nurse in writing. A report from your health care provider is requested.
Screening Dates: December 9 - December 20.

Please sign up "VOLY" to volunteer at the SST Spring
Dear Parents,
Without the involvement of our parents and volunteers, our students would not have the same enriching experience we strive to provide each and every day at SST. You are an invaluable addition to our team. In order to make it easier to find volunteer opportunities at your campus, as well as completing the required background check, we are using a new program called VOLY. We encourage you to follow the link below and register with your campus to get involved in the many opportunities we find to provide our students with the highest quality learning environment possible.
Register at: https://sstschools.voly.org/
Quick Start Guide: http://www.volnow.org/media/Voly/VOLY-Volunteer-Quick-Start-Guide.pdf
Dear Parents,
The success of SST's volunteer program depends upon the quality of the relationship between the volunteers, teachers, students and parents, and the general public.
School of Science and Technology provides equal volunteering opportunities for everyone regardless of age, sex, color, race, creed, national origin, religious persuasion, marital status, political belief, or disability that does not prohibit performance of essential job functions. All matters relating to volunteering are based upon ability to perform the job, as well as dependability and reliability.
More than ever, parental involvement is vital for schools to increase the student’s success. We believe with your help we can achieve our goals. Based on this fact and our school needs, we want to increase our volunteers. We need volunteers in the following areas at our campus; Cafeteria, Library and Classrooms. We encourage you to follow this link https://sstschools.voly.org/opportunity/index.html to select the opportunities that we created for you. Your supports are highly appreciated. Thank you in advance for all your supports.Birthday Celebration Dates
