Athletes of the Month (November)
Carly Kuehl (Volleyball)--Carly is a 4 year Varsity starter, a 6 rotation player, captain, and setter. Carly leads our team as a captain with her encouragement, aggressive play, and work ethic to lead by example. Carly is also a top leader in all aspects of the game including points scored on serve and 2nd in overall kills (206) and ranked in the top 10 players in the area in kills while only attacking in 3 out of 6 rotations (most attack in 6 rotations). Carly was a top hitting choice because of her strength, speed, and consistency as a hitter. Carly also is a setter for our team and has earned 230 assists while setting in 2 rotations. Carly is a consistent and aggressive server and contributed the 2nd highest digs per game for our team, showing her defense was just as important as her offensive skills. Carly earned spots on the 1st team All-District, 1st Team All- Conference, and All- State team this year because of her excellent skills and performance. Carly's experience playing in high stress games and playing varsity for 4 years was crucial to our teams success and ability to compete in very tough matches.
Sportsmanship Athletes of the Month (November)
Jacob Gordon (Swim and Dive)--Jacob is new to both the team and the sport of diving. He worked very hard from the first day. Jacob comes to practice each day with a very positive attitude and always encouraging to those around him. At our dual meets, he offered to stay and help us with timing for swimming. From this, he bonded quickly and easily with the entire team. He worked hard to make it into the state meet and earned a spot to compete for top 16. He makes sure he pays attention to events and congratulated his teammates immediately. He also came to meets where there want diving so he could be with the team. He ended up placing 8th and earned his first state medal. He also came to every optional practice just so he could be with his team. We are excited to have him with th team 3 more years!
