New ASR/ISS Teacher, Silvana Arroyo
My name is Silvana Arroyo, and this is my ninth year in education. I am currently working on my teacher certification in math and I want to pursue a teaching career in special education. I have a son who will be turning eighteen this year and will be graduating from Plano East Senior High in the spring. In my spare time I love to paint, introduce my son to classic movies and spend time with my friends. I look forward to my new adventure at Schimelpfenig Middle School.

New 7th Grade History/Science Teacher and Coach, Bart Long
My name is Bart Long.
This will be my first year in teaching/coaching as I come off of two years in a paraprofessional role at Schimelpfenig and begin a second career. I will be teaching 7th grade History and Science as well as coaching 7th grade football and basketball. My daughter Addison just turned five and my son Mason will be turning twenty in October. My wife, Stephanie and I will be celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary next year...time marches on.
I thoroughly enjoy watching my Cowboys, Mavs, Rangers and Stars and play golf any chance I can get.

New Attendance Clerk, Courtney Tyes
My name is Courtney Tyes, and this is my fourth year in Plano ISD. I am currently in college working towards my teacher certification. I wish to pursue a teaching career and later become an Assistant Principal. I am most grateful for my supportive husband, our 6 year old daughter, and the baby boy we have on the way. In my spare time I love baking, cheering my daughter on in her sports, and watching the Arkansas Razorbacks on the football field. I am extremely excited to join the Schimelpfenig Panthers and I am looking forward to my new adventure!

New 7th Grade Math Teacher, Amber Burnett
My name is Amber Burnett, and this is my fifth year in education. I have two dogs named Dyson and Lady. I enjoy running, fitness, sports, traveling, attending Church, and reading. My quality time is spent with friends and family. I am very excited about this new school year and look forward to my new adventure with you all at Schimelpfenig Middle School.

New 8th Grade English Teacher, Rebecca Mediaceja
Hello! My name is Rebecca Mediaceja (med ee uh say ha), and I will be teaching 8th grade English. I worked in PISD (Carpenter and Frankford) years ago and am thrilled to be back in the district. My husband and I live in Frisco with our three young children, and I have a step-daughter who will be a freshman at OSU this fall. I can’t wait to get started on my 12th year of educating middle schoolers and look forward to working with you all!

New 6th/8th Grade Math Teacher, Alexia Guilbeau
My name is Alexia Guilbeau, and this is my first year teaching for Plano ISD. Along with being a first year Plano ISD teacher, this is also my first year in my teaching career. I recently graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with my Masters in Elementary Education, and also received my Bachelors from SFASU in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Math specialization. I am excited to begin the school year and to learn more about the Plano community! I am a former twirler for the SFA Lumberjack Marching Band, so in my spare time I try to volunteer and attend as many spirit events as I can to stay involved. I am a sports fanatic, frequent traveler, and I love dancing. Go Panthers!

New 7th Grade Math Teacher, Amy Koestler
Hello! My name is Amy Koestler, and this will be my first year of teaching. I just graduated from The University of North Texas in May of 2015. I was a member of the Honors College, and I graduated top of my class. I have my teaching certificate in 4-8 math and ESL. I attended Plano Senior High School and graduated in 2011. I am currently tutoring kids in math in my spare time. I am excited to start my first year of teaching at Schimelpfenig Middle School.

New Special Education Teacher, Lorre Smith
My name is Lorre Smith and this is my first year teaching. This is a second career for me. I retired after twenty five years as a flight attendant. I have two sons, my oldest, Garrett, will graduate in December from UNT and my youngest, Hunter, is beginning his Junior year at OSU. In my spare time I like to read and spend time with family and friends. I am looking forward to this new adventure here at Schimelpfenig Middle School, I know it is going to be great.

New 7th grade English Teacher, Jeannie Freeman
My name is Jeannie Freeman and I am excited to be joining the Schimelpfenig team in highly acclaimed Plano ISD. I come to you with eighteen years of teaching experience and a Masters Degree in Middle Level Education. I have taught in a variety of grades, subjects, schools, districts, and states. My specialization however is middle level language arts, so I am thrilled to be teaching 7th grade English this year. I am the proud mother of three beautiful children who keep my busy with their own activities including theater, track and cross country. My hobbies include reading, running, travelling, and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to getting to know the wonderful children in this community as I inspire them to become better readers and writers.
