Details of Our Race
On Friday, May 10, 2019, Our Lady of Good Counsel School will be conducting our annual Race for Education. The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise $20,000 to construct OLGC's new STEM Program and lab. Next school year, OLGC will unveil a brand new STEM Lab Curriculum for Grades Pre-K through 8. Funds raised from the Race will be used for the purchase of furniture and the materials needed to equip this new lab. Your support and participation in this event is crucial to our success.
We are excited to once again hold this event off-site at Warminster Park for students in grades 1 to 8. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten students will walk on the school grounds. Students will walk during a designated time frame for a one hour period. Be sure to see when and where your child(ren) will be walking. Our schedule is listed below.
The success of our Race is dependent upon the number of sponsors our students receive. This year, we are introducing an online component, in addition to our labels and mailers. Our online component will enable you and your child(ren) to personalize your own webpage on our larger Race donation website in order to petition your child's sponsors electronically. The details/invitation of the online component will be emailed to you shortly but here are the easy steps:
Step 1: On the morning of April 10th, OLGC parents will receive an email providing a link to your child’s web based donation page whereby you are to insert your own personal message to your potential sponsors.
Step 2: Share your donation page via social media, email and text message. There will be a unique link on the invite that you can use to reach out to as many family and friends as possible requesting their support.
Step 3: Check in often and follow OLGC’s and your child’s progress as we strive to reach and surpass our goal of $20,000!
Reach out again as a reminder to family and friends before our Race Day of May 10th.
We would like all of our students to participate in this process. We would also like to provide another option for you to solicit donations. We will be sending home label sheets in your yellow envelope on Thursday. Students are to fill in their label sheets with their sponsors addresses and bring them back into school. (Please also be sure to return your yellow envelope for future mailings.) We will then affix the labels to our Race postcards and send them out. Students will receive credit towards one of our contests when labels are brought in. We will be offering two grand prizes this year: one for the class that receives the most sponsors online and one for the class who brings in the most labels for physical mailers. Walking Schedule By Grade
- Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4 & K: 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM (School Gym)
- 1st, 2nd 3rd & 7th Grade: 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM (Warminster Park)
- 4th, 5th, 6th & 8th Grade: 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Warminster Park)
Prizes
- The class that brings in the highest number of labels per student will receive a "Picnic at the Park" on our Race Day at Warminster Park. The winning class will also choose what they would like to eat at their picnic.
- The class with the highest average of sponsors will also receive a "Picnic at the Park" on our Race Day at Warminster Park. The winning class will also choose what they would like to eat at their picnic.
*Our contests will end on Friday, April 26th and the winners will then be announced. Please make sure to have your labels in by this date or have communicated to your online sponsors by then.*
Your Support
Sponsors will need to access the link to our Race website in order to donate electronically. This can be found on our school website and Facebook page. Please also check your email for the personal donation link of your child(ren) or their class. When accessing the Race site, simply type in an OLGC's student's name to make a donation. Please also be sure to share our site link on any form of social media.
Sponsors will have until Monday, May 13th to donate on behalf of your student before our electronic Race site will close. The mail-in donations may continue to be sent into school throughout the end of the year.
