Look for the helpers!!!

"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say, "Look for the THE HELPERS. You will always find people who are helping." To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother's words and I am always comforted by realizing that THERE ARE STILL SO MANY HELPERS; so many caring people in this world.-Fred Rogers

We want you to know that your elementary school counselors are part of your helper team at Ste. Genevieve R-II. We always walk into our school not knowing what to expect and today is no different. We are only a phone call away for you!!! We both check our voicemails at home and will call you back. We may not always be the ones that will help you, but will be determined to partner with you to find the help you need. It could be any type of resources or a face time call with your child who is missing us.

Please stay close to our building Facebook pages to see more for us during this time!!!

Common Sense Media and technology use!!!

Please bookmark this website!!! https://www.commonsensemedia.org/ This website will guide you on appropriate games, shows, apps, and movies for each age level and give you rationale for those suggestions. Encourage your kids to talk to each other on the phone. Texting causes way more conflict among our kids that will be hard to resolve face to face. Please don't allow Chromebooks in bedrooms. Please have them out in the open and monitored. Try to also set limits for unstructured use!

Ideas for Service Projects for Our Students

We think it is a great idea for students to adopt a service project during this time. It gives us a feeling of control and fills emotional bank accounts.

Yoga and Meditation Sites

We think now is a great time to explore yoga and meditation for all ages. There are tons of apps and you tube videos. We are sharing the best of the best. Cosmic kids yoga and the zen den is a wonderful from pre-school to 2nd Grade. Mind Yeti is great for 3rd grade. Headspace and Calm has kids and adult accounts that has meditation, calming music, and sleep stories. Yoga with Adrienne (youtube) is great for kids and teens. I have attached the websites and some of my favorites of a few below.

This is a great time to talk about Leader in Me!!!

We are currently all exhibiting Habit #1: Be proactive. We should be proud of our leadership and how we have synergized. We came up with a win-win although we all had different viewpoints. It is important that we carry our weather and use this time to sharpen the saw. This virus is out of our circle of control, but how we react and use this time with loved ones is!!!
