Our Mission:
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
We have another week under our belt and we are getting closer to our regular routine. As the learning increases, it is important that you partner with us to ensure the success of your child. Please reinforce positive routines and learning habits at home. Read or have your children read to you as often as you can. Please let us know if you need assistance in anyway. Thank you and have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jason Parrott

Parking
Mask Policy
Masks will be required to be worn by all staff, students, and visitors while inside the school building. This is a recommendation that has been made by the Oakland County Health Division. By having all people wear masks and keeping at least a 3-feet distance from one another, this will help to prevent having whole classes having to quarantine.
Quarantine Guideline:
In a K-12 indoor classroom setting where all students are wearing masks and additional prevention strategies are in place, students who are 3-feet or greater from a student who tested positive will be exempt from quarantine.
PROFESSIONAL LEARNING MORNING
Our first professional learning morning for staff will take place this Wednesday, September 22. This means that it is a late start for students. The first bell will ring at 9:20 a.m. with classes starting at 9:25 a.m.
SCHOOL LUNCH UPDATE
There have been some questions regarding the school lunches as we have started off this school year. We want to clear up a couple of possible misconceptions, along with providing some information about the plan going forward.
Given the changing logistics of housing students in the cafeteria during the pandemic and having lunch be available free to all students, combined with a food supply chain issue (that is also pandemic related), the decision was made to temporarily start the year with a bag lunch while new routines were worked out. In order to better describe the contents of some of the bag lunches, we have posted a new lunch menu for the remaining days of September. The updated elementary lunch menu can be found here. We will transition to hot lunch for elementary students on Monday, September 27 and a new menu will be distributed.
Thank you all for your patience and continued support as we work to better inform you in the name of being a community that best serves our kids. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Special Education Program Updates
Blessings in a Backpack
In light of the tough economic times facing our area, we are attempting to help Royal Oak Schools families by making sure that all of our children have enough food. “Blessings in a Backpack” is a program designed to provide students on the free and reduced lunch program with enough food for three meals a day during the weekends. This program, sponsored by the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester, is active in Royal Oak Schools. If you agree to take part in this program during the school year, your child will receive a bag filled with food for the weekend. While we are remote, the food will be delivered to your home by volunteers. The simple meals may include food like macaroni and cheese, beef ravioli, canned fruit, granola bars, soups, juice and other items. Virtual and high school children receive bags every other week, PreK-Middle school students will have food delivered weekly to the school.
If you would like to have your child participate in this program, fill out the form below and mail it to the board office at 800 Devillen, Royal Oak, MI 48073, or just hit submit on this form. Please be sure to indicate on the form if you child has any food allergies. If your child has a food allergy, you as the parent are responsible for checking all food labels when the food arrives home. Royal Oak Schools, as well as Blessings in a Backpack, will not be held responsible for any accidental food allergen exposure
