Message from the Principal
What is the true meaning of gratitude?
Gratitude is one of many positive emotions. It's about focusing on what's good in our lives and being thankful for the things we have. Gratitude is pausing to notice and appreciate the things that we often take for granted, like having a place to live, food, clean water, friends, and family.
That is a perfect reflection of what I have experienced during my time at Sally K. Ride. Every day, I am moved and inspired by what I see. Every day, I marvel at the incredible devotion of our staff and their unique ability to teach and inspire our children. Every day, I celebrate the amazing support of our parents and community.
I believe that the success of our school is built on a foundation of mutual respect and inclusiveness. Every day, dedicated teachers and staff nurture a culture of fairness, love and caring, all focused on the goal of providing a safe learning environment for our students and families.
During this time of Thanksgiving, I want to share my gratitude and thank you for being such an important part of Sally K. Ride. This is a wonderful time of the year to get together with friends and family to celebrate and be thankful for all the wonderful people in our lives. On behalf of the Sally k. Ride staff, I would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a safe and happy holiday. We will see everyone back here on November 27th.
We hope you have a wonderful week.
Megan Burnham

It’s Book Fair Time
We will host a Book Fair on December 6th – 12th in the school library. During the week, the Book Fair is open from 7:30 – 3:00. The Book Fair will be open on the morning of December 9th for Breakfast with Santa. Our last day will be Tuesday, December 12th.
We have a great digital payment option that is highly encouraged for students to use. Parents can set up an eWallet for students, deposit money into it, and students will not have to bring money to school. Visit our Book Fair homepage at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/sallykrideelementaryschool
to open up an eWallet account for your child. Any left over money in the eWallet will be put on a gift card for your student to use at future fairs or online. If you have money left over from the last book fair, you can sign in to your ewallet and transfer the money to this book fair. Students can also bring cash or check during the week to purchase books!
Profits from the Book Fair will be used to purchase books for our school library

Each slot is available for two adults and the child you are eating lunch with..
Please see the schedule below for designated grade level lunch visitor’s days. Make sure that you sign up under the correct time slot for your child’s lunchtime. Each student may have two visitors every 3-4 weeks. This ensures every parent has an opportunity to sign up. Remember to bring a valid id when you visit the building.
Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are asking all parents with small children to eat outside in the gazebo area.

What Can Families Do to Improve Attendance?
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Start building this habit in preschool so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Good attendance will help children do well in high school, college and at work.
