COBRA CONNECTION
October 2018 Edition
Principal Message
Dear Parents:
Fall is upon us and we are off to the races with a busy school year here at MLK!
It’s only October and we have completed our first school wide fundraiser, conducted our annual back to school night, and are preparing to launch our PTO again for this school year. In addition to all of these exciting things, we are so proud that our 6th grade students are becoming acclimated to middle school, and that our 7th and 8th grade students are working to serve as models for the respectful and responsible behavior that Martin Luther King, Jr. are expected to exhibit at all times. MLK is truly a great place to be!
As we keep the focus on offering a quality learning experience for all students, we can never forget just how important our parents and families are to achieving the optimal experience for each of our students. Toward that end, we look forward to welcoming you to meet with us in the coming weeks as we prepare for Parent Teacher conferences on November 7th. This is a great opportunity to collaborate with teachers so that you are aware of what your child needs to achieve success in all academic areas. Leverage the progress report that goes home on Friday, October 12 as a launching point for a meaningful dialogue with your child about what success as a student at MLK looks like for your family. We will also be promoting academic goal setting in our Cobra Connections advisory session throughout the year as a support to you.
Because we know that you share our commitment to ensuring that each of our students is great, your support and feedback is solicited as we work with your children and challenge them to be the best academically and socially. We hope that you will consider joining our PTO as another strategy to collaborate with us in support of your children. Your partnership is essential as we strive to have a fantastic year.
Best,
Rotunda Floyd-Cooper, Ed.D
