Notes From Our Counselors

This month is Native American Heritage Month! This observance commemorates the rich histories, diverse cultures, heritage, and important contributions of all Indigenous peoples. We also take time to acknowledge the vast achievements of America’s original Indigenous people.

As a reminder, all students at BMS-Prairie receive social/emotional learning (SEL) lessons multiple times a year and during COLT time. In addition, all students have access to a counseling team member. See Something, Say Something Reporting Method

Barrington 220 is now partnering with an Illinois school safety helpline aimed at providing students a place to report information that might prevent bullying, suicide, and campus violence. Safe2Help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows students to confidentially share school safety issues via a mobile app, text, email, or phone call. You will notice that the "See Something, Say Something" button on our district and school website now links directly to the Safe2Help contact page. We are asking that all students, parents, staff, and community members now use this platform to report safety concerns.
During an emergency situation at one of our schools, it is important for our community to work together. Barrington 220 has developed this tip sheet for parents/guardians, which shares specific actions parents/guardians should take in the event of an emergency.
