Perfect Attendance Raffle

Students who are presented everyday beginning today through the remainder of September will be entered into a raffle for passes to the Children’s Museum. One pass allows for six people to have free entry. Students must be present from 7:25-3:00 to qualify. There will be multiple winners from each grade level.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Be on the lookout for activities and/or events that will be hosted during Hispanic Heritage Month.

Car Rider Line

Our car rider line is moving quicker each day, and we appreciate our students being ready to exit their vehicles once their cars pull up to a cone. Once your child has exited/entered the car please pull to the right lane and begin exiting (no need to wait for the car in front of you to finish). As a reminder, drop off is only at the front of the school. This is the safest place for students to get out of the car.

Early Pick-up

We have seen an influx of students being picked up between 1:00pm-2:15pm. When students are picked up before dismissal, they are missing out on small group instruction, Science and Social Studies. Teachers are teaching until 2:55pm and students are missing out on graded assignments. If it’s not an emergency, we asked that you don’t pick your student up early.

Front Office Information

Early Pick Up

Daily instruction ends at 2:55PM daily. To avoid end of day interruptions, students will not be released after 2:15PM. Visitors will not be allowed in the building after 2:15PM unless a previous appointment has been made. Valid state I.D. is required to pick-up students from the main office. Individuals picking up students must also be listed as an authorized pick-up person.

Attendance Policy: Family Facing Website

YES Prep believes in the importance of student attendance in order to maximize student learning and connection to supports and resources. All YES Prep students should be in attendance daily.

Why Does Attendance Matter?

Daily attendance is critical for student learning and socialization. Research shows that students who are chronically absent- missing 10% or more of school days due to absence for any reason (excused, unexcused, suspensions) - can lead to difficulty learning to read by the 3rd grade, achieving academically in middle school, and graduating from high school. When Missing Days Becomes a Concern

Per the state of Texas, any student who misses 10% or more of the school year may be subject to retention, loss of credit, or truancy consequences. 10% of the school year is approximately 18 days. For high school, this means 9 days each semester as high school courses are semester long credits.

Birthday Celebrations

To minimize instruction disruptions, families must follow the birthday guidelines:

  • Birthday celebrations will ONLY take place on Fridays from 2:40PM-2:55PM.
  • Birthday treats must be store bought. Food made at home will NOT be distributed within school.
  • Families are encouraged to bring individual servings such as cupcakes or cookies; whole cakes or cookie cakes are NOT allowed. (Only store bought cupcakes or cakes. Ex: HEB, KROGERS, WALMART, ETC.)
  • Families are allowed to bring goodie bags with items that are non edible. Non edible examples include bubbles, playdough, yo-yo etc.
  • Birthday treats must be dropped off at the front office on Friday’s prior to 12:00PM. The campus Front Office will deliver birthday treats to classrooms by 2:30 pm, which is the time the classroom teacher and classmates will celebrate the child’s birthday.
