America and Me Essay Winners
A big congratulations are in order to some talented 8th-grade writers here at RMS.
Each year Romeo Middle School competes with other 8th graders from across the state in a contest called America and Me Essay Contest. Each student writes about his/her own Michigan hero. Out of the 440 students who participated at RMS, the contest judges narrowed down their three favorites from our school. Those finalists were:
1st place Trey LeValley
2nd place Ella Goodsell
3rd place Eden Eyeson
From there Trey’s essay about his grandpa moved on to the statewide contest. Recently, school officials were notified that Trey’s piece received 4th place out of all other entries in the state. Thousands of 8th-grade students from nearly 200 Michigan schools participated in this year's contest!
As a top ten winner of the 53rd annual contest, Trey will receive a plaque, medallion, and a cash award of $1,000, in addition to the $1,000 that will go to RMS! Trey will also be recognized at a special ceremony in Lansing next month along with the other top 10 finalists.
Congratulations to our top 3 in the school, including Trey, who put Romeo on the map as a finalist.

The day will begin with presentations from the coaching staffs of the Freshman, JV, and Varsity teams, players, athletic trainers and more.
