What We Are Doing This Week
Fables are wonderful fiction stories that teach the reader a lesson in the end. We will finish up reading and complete activities on Little Red Riding Hood.
Then we will continue fables with the Tortoise and the Hare. We will continue to discuss story elements (characters, setting, problem and solution sequencing, and the moral lessons that we learn from the story.)
Phonics:
Lesson 16 Diagraph ch
Lesson 17 Voiced s
Writing:
The students will begin this week working on a personal narrative. (This activity will be continued for the next few weeks.)
We will begin by reading Authur's Vacation. We want the students to start looking at a moment in time. We will do this by using a circle map to brain storm special moments that the students have experiences.
Next we will use a watermelon activity to help the students get down to that special moment.
We will also look at transition words (first, next, then, finally, etc) to help improve the student's writing.
