SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
The CHS Science Olympiad Team competed in a virtual Olympiad tournament on January 16 and did very well, placing 10th out of 23 teams and beating some big-time rivals. Congratulations to Aryan Mathur and Eli Foerst (both pictured) for earning 1st place in the Experiment and Data Analysis competition. Aryan Mathur also won 4th place in the Designer Genes competition. Thanks to our Olympiad Team of Anna Price, Leyna Nguyen, Yushin Son, Chandler Ostroff, Eli Foerst, Aryan Mathur, Jackson Gordwin, and Kym Stevens for representing CHS so well! Many students competed in multiple categories, including Chandler Ostroff who competed in four: Chem Lab, Circuit Lab, Code Busters, and Forensics. Mrs. Heather Walterson and Mr. Zach Thiel coach the team. Way to go, Wolves!
ARIZONA CIVIC ENGAGEMENT SCHOOL OF DISTINCTION
Chandler High School has once again been named an Arizona Civic Engagement School of Distinction, demonstrating the pervasive implementation of the proven practices in civic learning: Social Studies Classroom Instruction and Action Civics, Structured Engagement of Current Events and Media Literacy, Service-Learning, Extra-curricular Activities, Student Participation in School and Classroom Governance and Decision-Making Processes, Simulations of Democratic Processes, and School Culture and Climate embedded with Social Emotional Learning. Congratulations to Jaelle Valentine, CHS Sophomore, for winning 9th-12th Runner-up in the City of Chandler’s 2021 Creative Expression Visual Competition.
This year’s visual art winners are being displayed in Downtown Chandler during the Regional Unity ArtWalk. The banners are officially on display and ready for public viewing. Take a drive down Arizona Avenue in Downtown Chandler to see the inspired work of talented students.

We know you have many questions about the graduation ceremonies but unfortunately, we will need to be closer to the date before we can finalize the details to share with you. We are investigating a number of different scenarios that will ultimately be decided on based on the status of the pandemic and the subsequent health guidelines provided by the CDC, Maricopa County and Chandler Unified School District at the time of graduation. Rest assured that as soon as we know what direction we will be taking, we will be letting you know.

Seniors who are interested in attending Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Fall 2021, Yozzy Gomez Garcia, CGCC Liaison, will be available in the Career Center to help students apply (Application Workshops) every Thursday starting the month of February from 2:30-3:15 p.m. until the end of the semester in the CHS Career Center. C-GCC SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
High-achieving, recent high school students have the opportunity for a deeply enriching college experience in the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Honors Program. In addition, if you’re graduating high school with an unweighted GPA of at least 3.25, you can take advantage of the Presidents’ Honors Scholarship below. The scholarship pays for full-time tuition for up to 15 credit hours (plus the $15 registration fee) per semester for up to four consecutive semesters.
To be eligible for the Presidents’ Honors Scholarship, you must:
· Graduate from a high school in Maricopa County
· Have a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.25 or higher
· Start at CGCC within one year of high school graduation without attending another college in between (not including concurrent enrollment, dual enrollment, and summer session)
· Reside in Maricopa County while on scholarship
