Deer Times

December 2018

Greetings Deer Parents,

Last month the Deer class enjoyed making a class friendship trail mix. Thanks to all the families who donated snack food for the Thanksgiving celebration. Also, the children enjoyed learning about the first Thanksgiving with the pilgrims and the Indians. The Deer class did a great job of showing acts of goodness or helping the three year old Fox Class. Our class helped the younger children decorate two trees of thankfulness, making Turkey headbands and dancing with them to the song "The Turkey Pokey". We saw some great acts of kindness and sharing with other children.

This month, the Deer Class will be busy making Christmas gifts and cards. Also, making "Christmas Around the World" ornaments to take home. We will also be learning and singing numerous songs for the Christmas program on December 17th. We are looking forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus.

Blessings to all!

Christmas Gifts
Are you having a hard time figuring out what to get your child’s teacher for a gift this time of the year? We have complied a “Teacher’s Favorites” notebook. Stop by the Preschool Counter and take a look.

Illness Policy

As is common during the cough and cold season, we are experiencing children coming down with some illnesses. The preschool’s duties and responsibilities to help reduce illness are: sending children home should they become ill while at school, frequent hand washing, disinfecting and sanitizing the classrooms regularly, and notifying parents when there is an outbreak of certain illnesses. Working together we can decrease the amount of sickness that affects the children, staff, and families of the school. Please do not bring your child to school if he/she has any of the following symptoms:

  • Signs of infection
  • Runny nose that is not clear
  • Contagious cough
  • Unexplained rash
  • Fever, vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours
  • Illness requiring an antibiotic that has not been administered long enough to render the illness no longer contagious.

Please notify the Preschool Director at 303.972.2200 x119 if your child is going to be absent. Per Health Department rules and regulations, we are required to track, and in some cases, report illnesses. Please be sure to indicate if your child is sick and what their symptoms are. There are no makeup days or refunds for absences.

Parent Enrichment

Happy Holiday season Waterstone parents and families! In addition to sharing December’s monthly parent enrichment topic of “Safe Toys and Gifts" (see links below), we’ve included an update on the classrooms Giving Goodness outreach in November. If you would like any additional information or resources regarding the monthly parent enrichment topics, please contact Courtney (Outreach/Event Coordinator).

From all of us here at Waterstone Preschool, have a safe and joyous holiday season!

Giving Goodness

Giving Goodness outreach was created as an extension of November's fruit of the spirit, Goodness. During this time, our Pre-K/Jr. K classes “neighbored” the younger 1’s, 2’s, and 3’s classrooms. Each classroom participated in a shared goodness activity such as, a giving thanks tree, turkey puppets, and turkey scavenger hunts!

December Fruit of the Spirit: Joy

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
