Five Girls Qualify for State Powerlifting

Gainesville High School qualified 19 girls to for Regionals, which was the most lifters of any regional team. At the Regional meet, held at GHS on Tuesday, Tramera Bynum placed 1st in her weight class and was named outstanding deadlifter of the meet. Lupe Rodriquez and Aaliyah Henry placed 2nd. Itzel Gomez, Maria Rios, Carolanne Condi and Asia Sharpe finished 3rd. Taylor Royal, Karina Gaspar, and Makela Manuel finished 4th. Mattie Sherwin finished 5th.

GHS will be sending FIVE girls to the State meet in Waco on March 15.

Wish granted!

The Denison family headed out on their Disney cruise this week! We are thrilled that Colbie’s Make-A-Wish dream came true!! Colbie is a beloved student at Lee Intermediate. Colbie suffers from the incurable Rhett syndrome. She is the daughter of Lauren and Chris Denison.

The Denison family is deeply embedded at GISD. Lauren is a teacher at Chalmers, little brother Corbett is at Edison, and big sister Melaina is at GJH. We wish them all an amazing trip!

Board meeting recognitions

The top three District Spelling Bee winners were recognized: 1st place:Amira Khan (6th grade), 2nd place: Uriel Tellez (7th grade), and 3rd place: Avery Crutsinger (6th grade).

Senior Matilin Rigsby was also recognized and received a Achievement in Excellence coin for earning 4th place in State Congressional Debate.

Edison’s PreK came dressed in their boots, hats, plaid, and brought their stick horses to participate in the annual PreK Parade and Rodeo! PreK Students have been learning about Texas customs and cowboy traditions!
