SLS Player Impresses Principal

I got a text from the principal of St. Michael School on 11/7/18. It said, “I was really impressed with your boys last night. Perfect gentlemen!!!” Later that day I saw her in Indianapolis at principal meetings and asked what she was referring to. She explained that one of her players fell during the basketball game the night before. One of our players stopped and helped him up, even though play continued. She was impressed by our student’s compassion and caring.

8th Grade Econ Entrepreneurs

It is that time of year where the 8th graders are becoming entrepreneurs. This year they won't be allowed to sell food of any kind which made them have to think outside the box. Food was an easy seller because who doesn't like to eat? So, please help feed the cause and remember that these kids are trying to learn to run this business and be successful. They will have several things to buy or do Wed mornings from 7:30-7:50. Ideas range from photo booths, grab bag, paper puppets, bouncy balls, slime, thinking putty, a spa, and letters to Santa. There aren't any that cost over $5.

All the money they make from this will be used to pay themselves back for the cost of what they bought to run their business, and the profit is used towards a charity of their choice (this to be voted on by them shortly.) If you have issues or concerns please contact me first as I am certain we can get your questions answered. Thanks for helping our 8th graders be successful and have a great experience all in one!

Giving tree

The SLS Faculty Giving Tree will be offered again this year for those interested in honoring our teachers and staff during the Christmas Season! The Tree will be ready for visitors on Monday, December 3, 2018. Here is how it works:

OPTION 1 (The Tags)

The PTO asks each teacher to list some personal and school items that they would like to receive. Teachers fill out a wish list. Tags are made and displayed on a "tree" bulletin board outside the Kindergarten rooms for parents to select and purchase the item. The tags will stay up until Tuesday, December 18.

OPTION 2 (You want to buy for many teachers)

This option is popular for those families that wish to honor several teachers. Using the attached form, select the teachers you would like to honor, and send it back to the office with any amount. This amount will be divided among the teachers that you select. Please make checks payable to "Batesville Chamber of Commerce", as the teachers will receive Batesville Bucks. Place the form and your check in an envelope marked “Giving Tree” and send to the school office by Friday, December 14th, 2018.

Of course, this program is optional, but it's a great way to maximize your gift giving dollars. The teachers get exactly what they want and you save time!! It's a win win! Thanks for participating in this year's giving tree!

Any questions, please call Amy Tonges at 812-212-6702.
