SENIOR PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT
Mrs. Moran will be discussing important information in regards to the college process and high school graduation. Changes to the FAFSA, college visits, college applications, transcripts and scholarships are some of the topics that will be addressed.
Tuesday, September 14
7:00 p.m.
Auditorium - SCWest
**PARCHMENT** HOW TO SEND YOUR TRANSCRIPTS
You are in charge of sending your own transcripts. All transcripts are sent electronically. Seniors need to go to Parchment.com to set up an account. DO NOT use your school email because you will continue to request your transcripts after high school. It is better to do this now rather than later. **it is best if you request your transcripts the same time you are applying for admissions.
FAFSA 2021-2022 INFORMATION (FINANCIAL AID)
The FAFSA will be available on October 1st rather than January 1st. The FAFSA will collect income information from an earlier tax year. So, for students attending college in 2022-2023 they will be allowed to complete the FAFSA as early as October 1st based on your 2020 tax information. This will allow students and parents to have more time to explore and understand their financial aid options.
NCAA
Any senior athlete hoping to play collegiate sports in NCAA division 1 or 2 must register with the NCAA eligibility center at www.eligibilityceter.org You will be asked for your high school code which is 262852. During the registration process you will be asked to send your transcript through www.parchment.com Don't forget to request your final transcript be sent electronically to NCAA. Also, NCAA will only accept ACT scores sent directly from ACT. To do do this enter 9999 as on of your choices to have your score sent for free. If you do not plan on taking the ACT again then you will have to call ACT to have them send it for you. There is a registration fee that must be paid at the time of registration.
NAIA
Students may apply online at www.playnaia.org You will be asked for your high school code 262852. The clearinghouse requires a transcript be sent at the end of your senior year. Go to www.parchment.com to request your final transcript to be sent to the NAIA Eligibility Center. When registering to the ACT you MUST enter code 9876 in your college and scholarship choices section (0). This will ensure that your ACT score will be sent directly to NAIA.

CHECKOUT CAREER OPPORTUNITIES SCW OFFERS
GOING TO COLLEGE?
If you are going to college next year or in the future, now is the time to get the ball rolling. This is your responsibility. Below is a list of some of the things you should be doing.
- Retake or take the ACT or SAT at the earliest possible date. The more you take practice tests, the better you score.
- When making choices of college, listen to ideas of parents, teachers, and college students. Make an appointment with your counselor to talk over and explore your ideas.
- Apply to at least 3 colleges so you have a choice. Applications should go in early. All applications are now done online. Don't forget to schedule visits to all colleges you are considering. The earlier the better.
- Some applications request biographical data from you or letters of recommendation from teachers or your counselor. Every student should make a list including interests, school and community activities, offices held, hobbies, church activities, organizations, jobs, volunteer work and everything that sets you apart from the mainstream. Compile this into a resume and give it your counselor, and to others who are writing letters of recommendation for you. If you want a well written recommendation letter, you need to give counselors/teachers at least 2 weeks notice. Be sure to check deadlines.
- Read the GUIDANCE BULLETIN to keep current on scholarship information. Be sure to check eligibility criteria. Scholarships are available through the colleges or outside sources, such as your parents place of work, lodges, etc.
COLLEGE VISITS
Campus visits are an important part of the college process, but you need to plan ahead. You can schedule a visit on the college's website. Seniors are allowed 2 college visit days that will be excused and not counted against their attendance. All college visits need to be approved by April 14th and completed by April 28th. Students must pick up a "college visit" form from Mrs. Arns in the attendance office. The form requires teachers' signature before it will be considered an excused absence that does not count against your attendance. This form needs to be completed and returned to the main office 2 days prior to the college visit.
