Last month, we celebrated Teen Read Week in the Mountain Range Library. Teen Read Week was started in 1998 by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). It's a literacy initiative, held annually on the third week of October, encouraging teens to "read for the fun of it." The idea is to get teens excited about reading for pleasure, not just for one week a year, but for the rest of their lives. Here are some of the activities we held that week:
- We held a book themed art contest. Our winners, Alexis M. (a Junior) and Nghi N. (a Senior) both received a Barnes and Noble gift card!
- There was a "Guess the Tweet" contest each day based on tweets from fictional book characters.
- Students could create origami heart or duct tape bookmarks.
- Book Trailers were shown during lunches to kick off the week. Check out the playlist.
- All week, students could vote on the Teens' Top Ten List
It was a great week! Thanks to everyone that participated in some way! #trw14mrhs

Creating an account is easy. Just click sign up, and then choose to sign up with your Adams 12 Google account.
And, Pixabay is great for background images, too! Just search for "backgrounds", and you'll get many, many choices that are free to download and use without attribution!

Students: Did you get an email from Mrs. LaRue?
So, students have an overdue library book or a library fine, they can find out which book is out two ways.
- Students can log in to their Adams 12 Gmail here. If they have a recent e-mail from me (Mrs. LaRue), they will see the title and price of materials checked out or lost.
- Students can log in to Destiny themselves and see what's on their account. A video tutorial is below if interested in trying that.
