Ecology Club- Spring Session
Interested in being greener here at school? The Ecology Club meets in three sessions during the year to explore ‘eco’ problems through organic gardening, checking how we use resources, and making useful objects from garbage created in the building. You can be part of this change! Each session is $50. Club members will make handmade paper, grow plants in the green house, take care of an earthworm farm, and participate in an Earth Day project. We meet every Wednesday in the science lab except early dismissal Wednesdays.
To sign up for Ecology Club please go to www.pushcoin.com Please click on Webstore and then select MES Ecology Club

Kindergarten Registration 2020-2021
If you have a child who will turn five years old on or before September 1, 2020, please take note of the following information. Millburn District 24 will be accepting registration for Kindergarten on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Millburn Elementary School, 18550 Millburn Road, Wadsworth.
You must call the school to request a registration packet. Millburn Elementary School's main office number is 847-356-8331. All required paperwork should be completed when you bring it with you to begin the registration process. If you are unable to attend the registration date, you may drop off the completed packet prior to April 1, 2020. Kindergarten screening for readiness will take place in August prior to the start of school.
What else should parents bring to registration?
1) Your COMPLETED registration packet.
2) Your child's ORIGINAL birth certificate - Must be Issued from the County (not the hospital keepsake) - we will make a copy, no charge.
3) Proof of Residency - The registration packet will contain a form with a list of required documentation.
4) Your calendar - You will be able to make an appointment for screening, which is done in August.
FIRST GRADE - If you currently have a child enrolled in a kindergarten program other than the Millburn District, please notify the office if you intend to register your child for first grade in Millburn. Your child must be six years old on or before September 1, 2020, to register for first grade in this district. If you know anyone in our district who may not receive this notification, please ask them to contact the school. We appreciate your help as we prepare for next
school year!

State Assessments
Illinois Science Assessment (ISA)
Our 5th graders will be administered the Illinois Science Assessment on March 17th, 18th, and 19th. Each session will take approximately 45min. Last year, 79% of our students were proficient with their science skills, which is awesome! Yet, we continue to strive to improve each year.
Here is a link for more information on the ISA: ISA Information
Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR)
The IAR is a computer-based standardized assessment for all students in Grades 3 - 8 that is meant to measure students’ progress toward the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, as well as the Standards for Mathematical Practices. Millburn Elementary will test April 2nd-9th. This will provide the school district with information on student learning and facilitate continuous improvement of our educational programs.
English Language Arts
Grade 3 : 2 tests (75 minutes each)
Grades 4 - 8: 2 tests (90 minutes each)
Mathematics
Grades 3 - 8: 3 tests (60 minutes each)
Practice Tests and Questions
One way to help your child is to learn more about the content for your child's grade level and the types of questions on the IAR exam by using the links below.
ELA Practice Tests - Select grade level and click on "Standard Test Nav Version" button
Math Practice Tests - Select grade level and click on "Standard Test Nav Version" button
Online Student Tutorials
These tutorials will show you the variety of question types students will encounter when taking the IAR online. First, students are exposed to a question type and then they are given a content-based example for practice.
Equation Editor Tutorials
The equation editor is a tool students will need to know how to use for the math portion of the IAR. It allows students to build equations to show solutions to test questions.
