ONE TEAM, ONE GOAL

Dear Tiger Familes,
It is very important to note that the 3rd-5th grade students have very important online testing next week. You will hear it referred to as "Interim" or "DA2" testing. These tests are to gather information about what we need to focus on next semester before your student is required to take the STAAR state assessments. With the exception of the 4th-grade Writing test, the assessments will cover content they HAVE covered AND content they HAVE NOT covered yet. Again, this helps us know how to best support student learning to be sure they have mastered all objectives in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for their grade level before the end of the school year.
It is imperative each student does his or her own work on this test and is encouraged to do their personal best. After the testing window is completed, we will analyze the data, set goals with students, and arrange supportive plans to help them reach their goals. As their parent, YOU will be an important part of their support team to be successful.
Thank you so much for all you do to work with your student and their teachers.
Together, we can make a difference for the kids!
See what the Math, Reading and Science tests are like and what tools are available. Practicing builds confidence!

FALL READING CHALLENGE
Reading is a passion we want students to continue to love as they move into their adult lives. A love of reading is one of the best gifts we can impart to our students. Guiding and modeling for students to read more and discover more about who they are as readers this is what a challenge is all about.
So, what’s the challenge?
For this challenge at Harmony in grades Kindergarten to 5th grade, we are going to start with the fall semester. For the fall, we are asking every KIndergarten, 1st, and 2nd grader to read at least 20 books; and every 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grader to challenge themselves to read at least 10 novels.
It is not a grade but an opportunity to share and enjoy reading; teachers should make this a part of their class with regular updates on progress, celebrations of achievements, and book chats on what everyone is reading.
