He is now graduating from Squalicum high school.
Sebastian still holds the record for middle school track at St. Paul’s (now Franklin) for the 100m & 200m and has lettered in varsity track each year of high school.
During Summer 2018 he made it to the regional championships for Junior Olympics with his Ready Set Go Sprinters Track Team & up until quarantine he ran track both on and off season.
Sebastian will be attending Western Washington University where he plans to run track.
Cameron Hodges
Cameron will be attending Pomona College and will most likely major in environmental studies. She is excited to be running track and playing volleyball for Pomona as well.
Intentional Learning Continues!
"Partes del Cuerpo" Spanish Class Project! Do you know the body parts in Spanish?
María H. Lugo, our Spanish Specialist shared this:
"Grades 3 and 4 spent two weeks 5 and 6 learning/reviewing the "Partes del Cuerpo" (Parts of the Body) in Spanish. To end our unit, the students drew anything they wanted as long as it had ten parts of the body, and they labeled these with their Spanish names.
We called this project "El Dude". As you can see, their imagination created wonderful works of art. They truly reflect their dedication, originality and creativity. Great job team!"
7th Grade Life Science!
This from Mrs. Hedahl:
"We have a Kahoot! Quiz every week in the 7th grade Life Science class. I create a Kahoot! quiz each week on the chapter we are studying and then we meet via Zoom. The students are very competitive with each other because there are prizes involved -- the top four students opted for bags of Haggen cookies this week which we will leave at their front porches on Saturday, along with our Kahoot! Star card.
I find that it is a great way to ensure that the students are reading the textbook, learning the vocabulary and become informed about these important topics. Today we also watched a video together on Pollution Solutions. We are on track to complete the Life Science textbook, even though we are not meeting in the traditional classroom setting.
These 7th graders are a great group of students and I am enjoying thinking outside of the box so that learning keeps happening."

Welcome to "Deep Thoughts with Chaplain Aaron!"
Hello staff, students, and parents of Franklin Academy!
I hope you had a great week. This week in "Deep Thoughts with Chaplain Aaron" we will begin a new unit on Love. You are loved! It's true! In this week's video (about 11 minutes) we will explore loving yourself, and read a book called "Red: A Crayons Story." The Discussion Questions are: What makes you, you? And, what do you love about yourself? Our weekly service challenge is to write/draw a card for someone and tell/show them what you love about them. Have a great week!
