General Information

Happy almost Spring!

There are only 11 weeks left to turn in school work before the last week of the year. Please work diligently to finish your coursework and come to the classroom more often if you need a quiet place to complete assignments. Apex courses need to be finished by June 5th.

Our math tutor is available on Tuesdays from 11:15-12:30 and Wednesdays from 12:30- 2:00.

If you want to participate in summer school at your home school, please make an appointment to see your counselor in the next couple of weeks to discuss this option. I don't offer Independent Study in the summer.

Students can take summer school classes at the community colleges as well. Once the schedules are available, I will let students know about their options.

Students can request to be notified via email when the new Canada schedules are available. Sign up on this link (webschedule) https://webschedule.smccd.edu/ (scroll down to the bottom- Be the First to Know!)

Tie Dye Shirts

We will be making Tie-Dyed T Shirts on Thursday April 6th at 1:00 outside of our classroom. All of the materials (and T shirts) will be provided. One of my former parents does this for a living and she is volunteering her time to do this for us. We are pre-ordering T shirts, so sign up (in the classroom) before March 24th if you want to participate.

Smarter Balanced Testing for Juniors

All 11th grade students will take the Smarter Balanced Assessment some time after spring break. If you want to read more about this test, click on the link below.

http://www.seq.org/About-Us/Departments/Educational-Services/CAASPP--Smarter-Balanced/index.html

The test can be given over a period of several days and is done on the computer, so, I will work out individual schedules with students.

Seniors, College and Financial Aid

All seniors who intend to enroll in a community college in the fall should have already done so. It isn't too late, but, most community colleges offer early registration programs for students who apply early. Make sure to check in with the community college regarding financial aid opportunities. Students who completed the FAFSA and intend to enroll at Canada, CSM or Skyline can view financial aid information on websmart. It should be available in the next two weeks if not sooner.

There are many opportunities for scholarships. Review information on your home school College and Career Center websites.
