Battle of Fort Sumter
The battle of Fort Sumter took place on April 12 through 14 1861 in Charleston , South Carolina. The reason why did is so important is because the first shots of the Civil War. When this war begin Anderson was forced to surrender and fight back. The reason why is because they did not have enough supplies to fight back with. So in the begin he did not fire back but he did not have no other chose.
First Battle of Bull Run/First Battle of Manassas
This was one of the first major land battle that took place in Virginia.On the 21st McDowell crossed at Sudley Ford and attacked the Confederate left flank on Matthews Hill. The engagement of this fight began when 35,000 marched from the capitol to Washington D.C. To strike a confederate force near the small river known as the Bull Run.
Battle of Gettysburg
The fought of this battle from July 1 to July 3, 1863 . This battle was considered the most important engagement of the civil war . After a great victory over Union forces at Chancellorsville, General Robert E. Lee marched his Army of Northern Virginia into Pennsylvania in late June 1863.
Battle of Glorieta Pass
March 26–28 in New Mexico/New Mexico Territory , Confederate tactical victory and the union strategic victory.It was about that the federal forces were finally able to turn back to the Southern invasion of New Mexico.
Battle of Tampa
June 30–July 1,1862 in Tamp Florida Confederate victory.On June 30 the Union gunboat came into Tampa Bay. It turned broadside on the town and opened ports. The gunboat then dispatched a launch carrying 20 men and a flag of truce . They demanded the surrender of Tampa. The Confederates refused, and the gunboat opened fire. The officers then informed the Confederates that shelling would commence at 6:00 pm .Firing continued into the afternoon of July 1, when the Federal gunboat withdrew.
