Bear Bulletin
Maire newsletter: Oct 2nd Edition
Dear Maire Families,
There is excitement in the air. Our staff is so excited to have our students back with us in the upcoming weeks. Our goal is to create the safest environment for our students, continue to build relationships, and maximize our instructional time on numeracy and literacy while kids are in the building. The district has put a lot of safety procedures and protocols in place and those will be shared next week so families are aware of the changes we’ve made to our daily practice in order to keep the school operating in a safe way for all.
Next week is one of my favorite times of the year, conference time. While we certainly didn’t start school in the normal way and school has looked different, our ultimate goal is to partner with parents to create an educational plan that supports your child academically, socially, and emotionally. Our staff is excited to connect with parents on Wednesday, October 7th and Thursday, October 8th for our Virtual Fall Conferences.
We are also excited to kick off our 2020 Fun Run presented by Grosse Pointe Orthodontics. While raising money for our school is important as our PTO provides enrichment and support to our students and staff, we understand that times can be challenging for families. Regardless of each family’s ability to donate or fundraise, the Fun Run will be a great community event that brings our classes, school, and families together. We are lucky to have an outstanding PTO, supportive parents, and a generous community that rallies around our school and our students.

Lunch Aides needed
GPPSS needs Lunch Aides
Parents keep asking what they can do to help facilitate a return to Face to Face learning. One area where GPPSS needs help is with lunch aides. We need a set group of adults to help distribute lunch to classrooms, and help oversee handwashing and social distancing. These are paid positions, but we need a group of “regulars” to minimize exposure. Click here to see the posting. You can request a certain school. 18 and over welcome.
