Blue Team Weekly Update
Week of 4/20-4/24
Classroom Happenings
ELA- Mrs. Camden
We made it through our fourth week of distance learning.
Assignments are posted to Google Classroom each day by 8:30am. Please check there for instructions and work to complete.
We focused our lessons this week around common text structures. Students should be able to recognize how the information in nonfiction writing is typically presented in patterns that the reader can recognize. We have also been working the past couple of weeks on sentence types. Students should be able to recognize simple, compound, and complex sentences.
Everyone should be reading. I posted a Google form to fill out when you complete books. If you are having trouble finding access to books, check out the library Google Classroom or send Mrs. Tumminello a message. She has compiled a list of free resources. Mrs. Tumminello’s library Zoom meetings for 8th Grade are on Thursdays at 12:00pm. This is a change from when we started distance learning.
Scholastic has set up their system so books can ship directly to your house. If you use our class code M9G7W you will get books delivered, and I will still get the scholastic points to add books to my classroom library for next year when the library is closed.
The best way to contact me is by email. I prefer that parents use

Science- Mr. Vorel
This week students made the connection between visible color in the electromagnetic spectrum and the colors we see in the world around us. Because Wednesday was Earth Day, students focused on learning more about the emerging science that explains the changes in natural phenomena of our planet.
Next week students will continue to study the electromagnetic spectrum in addition to learning more about frequency, amplitude, and wavelengths.
