Irmo Elementary Family Updates
#HeartoftheHive #BetterTogether March 29-April 2
A Note From Your Principal
Dear IES Families,
This is an exciting week in the hive. We will celebrate our 2021 Virtual Career Day as well as our PBIS Students of the Month! For Career Day, students may dress as their school appropriate career of choice both virtually and F2F. Please do not send your F2F bees with props that may cause a distraction to learning. We cannot wait to celebrate our bees and their careers! Don't forget that Spring Picture Day is on Thursday. As a reminder, please complete the parent BrightBytes Survey for Technology shared on Monday, 3/22 by the deadline of Friday, 4/2. This is very helpful to guide our district in planning for technology professional development and more! All schools and offices will be closed April 5-9 following the end of this week for spring break. I wish you each a safe and relaxing week together!

Virtual Career Day 2021 is this Friday, April 2!
Career Day is on Friday, April 2. All students, both in person and virtual, have the opportunity to participate in dressing up as the career of their choice. Have fun and be creative! Outfits/costumes do NOT need to be fancy, elaborate, or costly. This is meant to be fun for the children and families. Our students love it and it’s a great way to promote students thinking about their career interests. It does need to be a true career or profession and not a cartoon, movie character, hero, etc. Costume masks (full face coverings) do need to be worn due to safety concerns and please do not send props that may be a distraction to learning. We are excited to celebrate our bee's future goals!
BIG NEWS: A Note From Your PTA President
Although you haven't seen us buzzing all around the school and though we haven't been able to do our usual events of the past, our PTA has been working behind the scenes assisting our teachers and IES staff in any way possible. As things are slowly getting back to "normal" we are trying to gear up for some possible year end events and brainstorm ideas for next year so be on the lookout for things coming down the pipeline!
BIG NEWS!!!
You may have noticed that our carline fence is now bare and ready for the NEW sponsor banners for the 2021-2022 school year. If you, or a business you know, would like to have your company name in front of over 200 families, Monday through Friday, twice a day, this is for you! For supporting the IES PTA, our 2021-2022 PTA Sponsorship includes a plaque to hang at your place of business as a thank you and a 3x5 banner with your company logo that will hang for the remainder of 2021 and into the 2022 school year. That's right, $350 for all of that! That's the cheapest billboard ever!!!
If you are interested in supporting the IES PTA and becoming one of our 2021-2022 sponsors, please fill out the attached form and email it to irmoepta@gmail.com or drop it at the school to our attention: IES PTA. Deadline for sponsorship information is Wednesday, April 14th!
As always, if you have any questions or if you would like to know more about being a part of our PTA team, feel free to email or reach out to me directly. For the most up to date information, be sure to follow us on Facebook @Irmo Elementary PTA.
Thank you for all that you do to support this amazing school we all love so much!

FIVE Virtual Weekly Update:
Hello IES FIVE family,
We are excited for another great week in FIVE. This week we have several events that we would like our FIVE family to be aware of. First, we will be having our spring pictures. This picture day is completely optional, but we wanted our FIVE students to have the opportunity to come in to our auditorium and have their pictures made. We will create a safe environment with social distancing measures in place. Students should wear their masks and only take them off while their picture is being made. K-2 students will have a picture time of 1-1:30pm on April 1st, while our 3rd-5th grade students will have their pictures made from 1:30-2pm on April 1st. Students will enter the right side of the auditorium and exit on the left side of the auditorium. Parents/guardians, please drop off students during the times listed in front of the auditorium (looking at the building- right side of the main office entrance). Also, our students will have the ability to participate in our April 2nd school wide career day, we hope they enjoy learning about all the amazing roles/ jobs that our parents, guardians, and community members take on. Finally, our IES administrators are excited to be joining our IES classrooms this week to participate in our student of the month celebrations. We hope you have an amazing week in FIVE.

Virtual Upcycled Art Show
South Carolina's DHEC's Take Action SC launched a pilot "Student Ambassador Program". They are organizing and hosting a virtual upcycled art show for participation of children 12 years old and under in South Carolina. The show will promote environmental sustainability and the mentality to reuse old things by requiring only materials that would otherwise go into the garbage or recycle bin. Parents can register their student(s) and upload a picture of their child(s) project at their website.
Thank you to Emily Perkins, Magnet Lead Teacher at Leaphart Elementary School STEAM Magnet for sharing this exciting opportunity with our FIVE students. Please email eperkins@lexrich5.org if you will be participating.
