Electric circuits
Sofia Ordoñez and Isabel Rojano
What it is...
A circuit is a way of roting electricity along a path.
Electricity happens when electrons move from one place to another.
Types of electricity
Static electricity
All energy is released all at once.
Static flow =Current
This current needs a path to folow = Circuit
Circuit components
- Power Source
- Path made of a good conductor: cooper, gold, silver (cooper wire) Usually this wire is surrounded by an insulator: rubber
- Load - Device that uses electricity
Switch
To control if an electric device is on or off.
It controls the flow of electrons by closing and opening a circuit.
Off- Circuit Open (electrons dont't flow)
On - Circuit Close (electrons flow)
Electric Cord
Electrons flow out of the hot slot down to one of the wires into the load, go back on the other wire back to the neutral slot.
