Thank You!

Thank you to all of our Guest Readers who came out to support their students by reading best loved books in our library! The students really enjoyed having visitors and sharing their love of reading. Also, thank you for participating in our week long reading challenge! The total number of minutes read by Koenig Elementary students was 20, 812 minutes! This is a great accomplishment and all our students should be very proud! Our next reading challenge will kick off on April 11th with Fang from the Timber Rattlers coming to Koenig Elementary to share how books and baseball go hand in hand!

State Forward Testing

All Koenig students in grades 3 and 4 will take the state Forward assessment starting the week of April 16th.

The exam is designed to gauge how well students are doing in relation to Wisconsin Academic Standards. These standards outline what students should know and be able to do in order to be college and career ready. The Forward Exam is administered online each Spring in grades 3-8.

A parent flier is in today's folder with information for families. Click here for an electronic copy of the letter.

Jump Rope For Heart

Thank you to everyone who donated to the American Heart Association! Together we raised $3,190 for such a great cause and jumped our hearts out during our phy ed classes. This vast outpouring of support demonstrates our commitment to building a community of compassionate citizens!

The Kindness Ninja Visits The Middle School and High School

During the course of this year, the Kindness theme along with our Kids Of Hope has been embraced by every school in Two Rivers. While we work as one TEAM, we are also supporting the efforts of one another by participating in the Shoe Drive being hosted by both the Middle School and High School. Please click here for information on the Kindness Ninja that visited both schools.

We are asking families to support this challenge by donating any new or gently used tennis shoes! All the shoes donated will be used to support children in Africa!

Open Enrollment

Families wishing to attend a school outside their home district can apply for Open Enrollment in Wisconsin. The window is opened from February 5th to April 30th, 2018. Click here for more information. Have a question about open enrollment, call 793-4560 and ask for Louann Linsmeier.

What Is Happening In The Library?

A lot has been going on in the Library Media Center. Kindergarten students learned about books that won the Theodore Geisel Book Award. They have also been learning about space through fiction and nonfiction books. First grade just finished up learning about nursery rhymes. They will be now learning about owls using fiction and nonfiction books. Over the past few months second grade has been learning about fables, folktales, and myths. They will now be learning about how illustrations help to tell a story. Third grade is learning about the different types of fiction genres. Fourth grade has been learning about the different genres found in nonfiction. They will now be introduced to website evaluation.

The Library Media Center’s website has a wealth of information. All students have access to Destiny Discover and MackinVia ebooks and audiobooks. Your child’s username is his or her library card number, and the password is his or her last name. The guest log-in for both websites is koenig and the password is library.
