The Weekly Update
Springfield Twp MS - Season 6, Episode 5 - Sep 30
From the Principals
Happy Friday, Spartans! If you can believe it, one week from today, October 7, is the midpoint of the first marking period! That means that one week from today, we will be one-eighth of the way through the 2022-2023 school year! We are going to ask our teachers to have their grades updated as of our midpoint at 3:00 pm on October 12 so that parents can see an accurate picture of student progress. At that point, you should be able to log into HAC, view your child's classwork, and have a reasonably accurate picture of their performance in each class.
No School Staff/Students - Yom Kippur (10/5)
Yom Kippur literally means "Day of Atonement," and it's the holiest day in the Jewish year. According to the American Jewish Committee, Yom Kippur is a day of both personal introspection and purification, as well as communal connection, focused on "clearing the slate" for the coming year. The observance of Yom Kippur lasts for 25 hours - this year from the evening of October 4 through the evening of October 5. During that time it is traditional to fast as well as refrain from decadence. We have asked our teachers to limit school work and be flexible and responsive as they plan for our day off on October 5. Tzom kal to those who celebrate Yom Kippur.

STSHSP
Thanks to all who attended the first Secondary HSP meeting of the year on September 19. We enjoyed sharing the ways that you can be involved with the HSP, and it was great to hear district updates from Dr. Yannacone, Mr. Fuller, and Dr. Rittenhouse. If you were unable to tune into the Zoom gathering, meeting minutes are available on the district website. Our membership drive kicked off at the HS and MS Back-to-School Nights. Many thanks to all of you who signed up! If you haven't yet joined, membership is only $20 per family. 100% of dues directly fund programming and resources for our secondary students - we hope to count on you for the support! Sign up today at the following link. We've got a full slate of special programming for our monthly meetings this year. Mark your calendars for the October 20th meeting when we will offer a special presentation about social media and the roles that school faculty, police, and parents can play to protect our students.
