Nuts and Bolts
- State Testing: Please be mindful of state testing this week. The calendar above has times and days of testing. Signs with "Testing" will be placed on the doors. Please don't have students print to the small lab when it's in use. On Wednesday, I will send out a testing update.
- FV Principal Selection Process: Debbie Ashley will be here on Wednesday at 2:00 to get input from the staff on the characteristics you would like your next principal to have. Licensed staff is required to attend (during academic seminar time) while it is voluntary for classified staff. This is your time to give input. Parents will be meeting with Debbie that evening at 6:00 pm.
- Jog-A-Thon: Cindy Vuylsteke will join us Tuesday at 2:20 to talk about the Jog-A-Thon
- Bathrooms: Please remind your students to flush the toilets. Reuter mentioned that this is becoming an issue.
- Containment Drills: We will have two containment drills this month. The date/time will be a surprise.
Shout Outs
- Christina & Erin put on a very informative/engaging Kindergarten Open House last Tuesday. Their videos (Made by students) were awesome!
- Janet's 6th grade math class was working in groups to find the area of irregular shapes. The amount of math talk and discourse amongst the groups was a real joy to hear. They were 100% engaged and focused on their work.
- I was watching Alissa work with some of our students on the playground. She is always kind and very patient. Both traits allow her and our students find success.
- Tracey was teaching her class how to establish context for an introduction. This was a new and challenging concept. She used a Lou Gehrig video clip and had students focus on what they saw and heard as he spoke. She provided a graphic organizer to support this work. Between the video and graphic organizer, her students started to understand how to build context. Tracey designed a lesson that had support and an engaging way to think about the concept.
- During Jill's observation, every student had the opportunity to speak. She used a combination of sticks of opportunities and cold calling. This kept students on their toes and engaged.
- Thank you to Karey and Susan for staying late on Tuesday to support the Kindergarten Open House.
- During state testing, Marcia is always willing to support and be flexible. Her efforts make a difference for all of us.
