The mission of Coleman Middle School is to provide students with rigorous and innovative learning opportunities using Project / Problem Based Learning (PBL) which promote collaboration, critical thinking, community, and creativity.

8th grade CogAT Testing Begins Monday!
• Monday, September 9, 2019: Verbal Battery - Sections 1, 2, & 3
• Tuesday, September 10, 2019: Quantitative Battery - Sections 4, 5, & 6
• Wednesday, September 11, 2019: Nonverbal Battery - Sections 7, 8, & 9
Although no studying or preparation is necessary for this test, the following recommendations should help your child do his/her best each day:
• Get plenty of rest
• Eat a healthy breakfast
• Be at school on time
• Be prepared (glasses if needed)

Coleman Middle School will be hosting our first quarter PBL (Problem Based Learning) showcases at the beginning of October. Our students would appreciate your input and feedback on their final prototypes and projects on the dates and times listed below. Feel free to invite any of your colleagues to attend our events. I have included the grade level driving question along with the dates and times. Please follow the link below for the Google form to sign-up for the showcase prior to attending (this makes check-in move quickly).
We will be hosting an "Everything You Need to Know" about a showcase for 6th grade guests prior to the 6th grade showcase on October 2nd at 9:30 in the Coleman Media Center. Please attend if this is your first time coming to a showcase or if you just want to know how to give meaningful feedback to our students.

September Activities at Duluth Public Library
Duluth Cluster STEAM Showcase - October 1, 6 pm, Parson's Alley
This award-winning event is in Parson's Alley on October 1st from 6-8pm as students from the Duluth school cluster showcase their project-based learning projects. Students will show off their real-world applications, investigations and more!
Donations Needed!
Please ask your students to bring in the following items (there will be a collection box near the front office beginning on Tuesday):
The 8th grade service learning course will be collecting these items for the "Day of Service" on September 11 to ship to our military service members across the world. All items must be new and individually wrapped.
