A Special Treat From Mr. Jim!
Guest Reader, Jim Sibigtroth
For years, RayLand has been treated with the storytelling of, "Mr. Jim!" Mr. Jim has been coming to Reagan for years on Tuesdays/Thursdays to share an array of storytelling styles and cultures with our students. This year, we are lucky to have Mr. Jim in our 2nd grade on Tuesday(s) at 1 PM!! The following is a message from Mr. Jim. He wanted to share a recipe that came from a recent story he read to the class. He promises that other than being present (for children's safety) that this recipe can be made entirely by your children!!!
When I read the story "A Song for Lena", I promised your students that I would give you a recipe for a chicken pot pie that they could easily make themselves to fix dinner for their family and win some brownie points with their moms. This is the link to the recipe on my Google drive. You can print it or just publish the link so they can access it directly.
The recipe has a shopping list with pictures from HEB and there are pictures for each step. It uses pre-made pie crusts that are already rolled out and rolled up in the package so you just unroll them and lay them in the pan. It uses a rotisserie chicken and they just let it cool, wash their hands, and tear the chicken off the bones. It tears easily so they don't need to use a knife. The whole thing takes 10 or 15 minutes and then bakes in the oven for about 50-60 minutes. It is very easy and pretty fool proof.
Thanks,
Mr Jim
