Many Hands, One Mason!
September 21, 2018
Dear Mason Families,
As we enter in our 4th week of school next week, please talk with your child(ren) about being safe at school and in the real world. We are constantly talking at school about alerting adults if you notice anything out of the ordinary and making sure we are going straight home after school. Next week, we will have a practice fire drill (9.28-12:50pm) and evacuation drill (9.25- 1pm) to ensure we know exactly what to do if an emergency arises. Please do not try to check your child(ren) out during these drills as our protocols do not allow students to be released while we are conducting these mandatory safety drills.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Roy Bishop, Jr.
Principal

Independence: Time for Students to Walk In
As we enter into our fourth week of school, we are asking parents to help their child(ren) become more independent by letting them walk by themselves into the building. If your child is not able to walk in alone, please let the front office know and we will assist the student to the best of our ability. Thank you in advance for keeping the safety of our building a priority.
Evacuation Drill
The afternoon of Tuesday, September 25, 2017 is Mason's whole school evacuation drill. Please do not come to school or call the office during the drill so our staff and public safety officers can remain focused on the drill and our students' safety.
Please plan ahead as students cannot be released for appointments during the drill.
The district will notify you when the drill is complete and students are back in class. Thank you for partnering with us to provide a safe and secure learning environment.
Does your student have a fever?
A child who has has a FEVER should not come to school. Your child can’t learn well when he/she is ill and other students and the staff are at risk for also becoming ill.
So please keep your child home until your child is feeling better and is fever free for 24 hours without fever medicine. We have students who are leaving school sick and returning to school without having time to recover which is resulting with them going home again that day. Call the school office so we know the reason your child is absent. If your child is not improving, please call your child’s medical provider. We want all students safe and healthy.

September’s Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Focus
Hallway Behavior- We are working extremely hard at making sure we are conducting ourselves in a positive way in the hallway. Our goal is to make sure we are keeping our school as safe as possible and part of that is making sure we understand the expectations for the hallway. Please ask your child to tell you what they are expected to do in the hallways at Mason.
