WINTER IS ON THE WAY

JEFFERSON'S GENEROUS FAMILIES...

Our ECHO Food Shelf food drive was a smashing success again this year, thanks to the generosity of our great families. It's always impressive to see how willing our families are to give to others in need. THANK YOU!!! Below are highlights of our final results.

Top 4 Classes (tie for 3rd place)

Mrs. Sallstrom's class - collected 173 pounds of food

Ms. Sipe's class - 134 pounds

Mrs. Nicolai / Mrs. Dedinsky's class and Mrs. Grajewski's class - both collected 130 pounds

Total collected by Jefferson School - 1,254 pounds!!

Our Student Council worked hard to promote this important event, and they also gathered and weighed all the food before it was shipped away. Thank you to our Student Council Advisor, Ms. Fuqua, and all the Student Council members pictured above!

JEFFERSON STAFF: MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY

Our Jefferson staff is well known for going "above and beyond" to meet the needs of students in our school. What often goes unnoticed is how much our teachers do outside of the school day. Jefferson staff members are extraordinarily generous in many ways. One such example came early in November when several Jefferson staff (and a few family members) donated their time to volunteer at the Backpack Food facility. Many of our students and families benefit from this wonderful program that wouldn't exist without the financial support of our community and volunteer groups like the fine workers pictured here. To find out more about how you could volunteer or donate, visit the website below.

COLD WEATHER IS COMING...

Be sure to send your kids to school prepared for cold weather as winter is just around the corner. Students still play outside in the morning until the 8:05 bell rings, and we still send them all out for recess, even when it gets cold. (The exception being when wind chills dip to levels that could cause frostbite within 15-20 minutes of exposure.) We want our children to be able to enjoy the beauty and fresh air that come with Minnesota winters. Please bundle them up.

On a related note, the Jefferson Lost and Found is still OVERFLOWING. All items remaining after conferences will be donated to families in need. Please check the tables located at the main entrance during conferences, or any time you visit Jefferson School before next Tuesday.
