In this club we will use our problem-solving skills to design, build, and test contraptions that will then be submitted for the 2023 International Fluor challenge! The design process has kids collaborating, planning, building, testing, reflecting, and modifying, which all are transferable skills that will benefit them whether or not they have a future as a STEAM related career. Also, as time passes more and more fields are starting to integrate STEAM even when in the past they did not seem related.
Project Fit

Project Fit will utilize our new walking path to provide students with the opportunity to become more active without breaking a sweat! Fresh air, music, walking and fun activities will help us on our Project Fit journey.

Yearbook

Students from the 6th grade will create the 2022-2023 yearbook using the computer program Pictavo. Together they will choose the cover, edit text, and place images. The club will meet for 12 sessions dates.

Lego Club

Grades: Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5, Grade 6
Play is important in Lego Club, as students are encouraged to inventively by solve weekly challenges for which they must use innovative thinking to find and build a solution.
Hack-a-thon
Dates: Tuesdays + Thursdays
March 7th - April 27th

Students showcase their talents and enter the Hack-a-thon as a team based on coding skills acquired or practiced in the Coding Club.This competitive program provides students the experience to match their skills against other schools in Suffolk County as they work as a team to communicate, strategize and collaborate in a broader global community.
Cutchogue East School Musical/Play

Students will be invited to participate in the many aspects of the stage production of ________ There are several ways for students to engage in this performance. Students with interests in performance, art, technology and stage crew will be able to showcase their talents during the preparation schedule and final production.
This program allows students with an interest in theater to be introduced to all aspects of a stage production. Students with a passion for performance, art, and technology will be invited to participate. It will provide an after school opportunity to be involved in an activity that is fun, team building and challenging.
Set Design

Grades 5,6
Set design lets the artist come out to help make the play come to life with beautiful backgrounds. Helping engineer set pieces to allow for spectacular performances.
Journaling and Mindful Writing
Dates: Tuesdays beginning January
Grades: 3rd and 4th grade (two different sessions)
4th grade: Feb 28th - March 28th
Bullet journals are a way for students to build a growth mindset and practice a way to express their thoughts and feelings.
Coding Club

Using our coding platform, KIDOYO students are learning to embrace computational thinking, making math concepts move, bringing stories to life with interactive designs and engage with coding languages of increasing complexity. When students express a piqued interest in coding, a club environment enables collaborative and independent exploration that can lead to team experiences with Code.
Garden Club

The garden club will have two sessions. One in the fall and one in the spring. The fall session will be for students in 3rd grade. The spring session will be for students in 4th grade. Students will plant, harvest, maintain and prepare the school garden. Students will enjoy learning outdoors. If any 5th or 6th grade students would like to volunteer and assist by mentoring peers in the garden, please contact us.
Outdoor activities in the school garden will provide multiple opportunities for students to work collaboratively while nurturing their physical, social and emotional well being.
Student Leadership

Student Leadership is an opportunity to take an active role in your education and develop your leadership skills, while helping make the CE experience the best it can be for all students! The committee is made up of 2 representatives from each homeroom in 5th and 6th grade. Representatives are elected by their classmates and will serve on the committee through June. Throughout the school year the leadership team will run charity drives, host fundraisers, assist at school events, and take on building wide projects of their own.

Students in the Cultural Connections Club can showcase their positive leadership skills! This club will bring together students who have different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The Cultural Connections Club will build cultural competency across diverse groups of students. Students will celebrate similarities and differences, including languages, likes and dislikes and hobbies.

NYSSMA Chorus Club

NYSSMA chorus club (New York State School Music Association) is where students come to learn the technical details of singing as well as to prepare a vocal solo to be performed in front of an adjudicator. The scores from these performances are one of the bases for qualification for the All-County Festivals held throughout the year. The students meet on either Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday from 3 to 4 pm depending on their choice of solo.
Mock Trial Club
Calling all 5th and 6th graders - learn all about how the law works in a courtroom setting. We'll meet on Thursdays to prep for trial scheduled on June 1st. Students will have a chance to be lawyers and witnesses and learn more about the role of judges and juries in the process. New for this year, a chance to work with the MHS Mock Trial team.
