Pleasant Valley Family Newsletter
March 30, 2020
Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders.
Dear Pleasant Valley Families,
We sure miss our learners and families and is evident by the many calls and emails that were shared between your PV staff, especially last week during our Spring Break. These certainly are unpredictable times for many of us. We want all of you to know that health, safety, and well being come before any academics. During this unusual time, balancing home life with school is no easy task.
A fundamental suggestion we have for you is to establish a predictable routine for your young learner. Perhaps, begin with having a predictable mealtime and sleep schedule. Then choose times in between to designate reading, playing in or outside if the weather permits, and about two hours a day (this includes the important Arts as well, Music, Art, and PE) for completing the school engagement learning activities that are provided by your child's teacher. This will help to outline a predictable routine, which children need and keep their skills sharp. You can find our distance learning plan here. These are the student learning engagement activities for the weeks of 3.16 and 3.30.2020. If distance-learning continues, we will provide an updated plan for you by the beginning of next week. Do what you can, when you can, and know that we understand. Each family will tackle this new endeavor differently. Some families may be taking care of loved ones, and others may have a family member working on the frontlines in healthcare or as an essential employee. If this is you, we extend an extra thank you for your valuable work, and our thoughts and words of encouragement are with you! Reach out to your child's teacher, or any of us, if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to support you in any way that we can.
Our PV Sunshine Committee would like to invite you and our learners to participate in our Spirit Week. Please use Twitter and the hashtag #PVSpirit2020. Be sure to tag us @PCSDpleasantval to share your pictures, as we will make sure to highlight our PV Stars. It is always fantastic to see kids come together to unite a community. Please reference the schedule below.
Very Sincerely Yours,
